I actually quite enjoy this movie as well. I find that people either love or hate Sarah Michelle Gellar .I myself fall in the former , there are however some problems with this movie . I cant stand the noises the kid makes and it took away from the movie for me.

I saw it in the theater and I fucking hated it, and I hate Ju-on also. I loved The Ring and I remember going into this pretty excited. Also, I had a crush on SMG at the time too. So this movie had a lot going for it. I haven't seen it since. I watched 3/4's of Ju-on about a month ago before turning it off. I thought it was worse than the American version.

It's not that bad really. The sequel was. But anyway, it had some creepy moments. I thought that the CCTV scene was creepier in the 2004 version that the original Japanese one. From what I remember, I think I prefer the remake to the original. Ju-On isn't great. It seems like a desperate attempt to 'out-do' Ringu to me.

It's probably one of the better hollywood remakes at the time. But I generally don't like new horror movies. I dunno why. I prefer the oldies. Anyway, yeah, I enjoyed it and it's not as bad as a lot of people say.

Nothing wrong with The Grudge movie. Its scary and great. Its the shit that was born in the form of sequels that turned the the grudge into a pile of dirt. I even had very high hopes for Grudge 2 and 3 but both failed to deliever... especially 3

I had high expectations for the first Grudge and it was a major disappointment. Not even one scare...
