So the first three Asian horror films you've ever seen are still your favourites? You strike me as the type of person who can't get over things you see for the first time, you see something new and you're stuck with it forever. It's forever the best, this traces back to you and the 80's, 80's films, and only 80's films. The 80's are the best, because that's what you saw first, that's what you're stuck with. This may not be absolute, but it's true most of the time, and certainly occurs often enough to label it a condition.

I don't even understand your "hate" or "frustration". You've admitted it's very well made, with creepy atmosphere, good acting, and stylistic direction. You just didn't get any enjoyment out of it, you weren't entertained like you wanted to be. Which is fine, by why ask people what they found so good about it with a puzzled look on your face? You know yourself what makes it good, you know why others would find it good, so this whole thread seems like an attempt to argue for no reason.

As for the film itself, I've talked about it, posted about it, written reviews about it (for this site), so I won't go over old territory. Though let me say that I loved it, it is the best Asian horror film I've seen thus far, it's a great film that transcends genre. It is a hell of a lot better than Ring, Dark Water, and The Grudge. I was incredibly entertained and it weaves such an intricate and interesting story that I was glued to the screen for the whole running time. It also has some of the creepiest, and scariest, scenes I've seen in quite some time. Check it out if you haven't already.

BINGO.

he gets joy out of being condescending toward people who like "artsy fartsy" films. WIL Double stole his thunder, or otherwise he'd have played the "elitist card" as he usually does.

Awesome...Since when is understanding a movie a bad thing?...And who is this a bad thing to?...

But unlike you, I'm not entertained by sitting around after the credits roll and wondering if what I thought happened really happened. That's not entertaining, that's annoying.
Yet you did it with The Ring...

I love all 3 of the movies you mentioned AND A Tale of Two Sisters...But of course, liking a movie like A Tale of Two Sisters would naturally mean we are egomaniacal, and on intellectual high horses...So you should be ok with being in the horse's dung heap for not liking it?

It's like this, you can't hate a great film because you're too stupid to appreciate it. It's like hating a woman because you're too ugly to fuck her.

Not exactly. There wasn't much to debate. I didn't need a website or secret decoder ring to understand the flick. The debate was more or less explaining the plot to a few dumbasses that refused to acknowledge the facts. No matter how you slice it, if you didn't like the film or not, it's by no means the worst movie ever made (like dumbfuck Ralphus kept spewing).

If you people like shit like Mulholland Drive, Naked Lunch, and Natural Born Killers, then more power to you, just don't get on here and pretend your all smarter than the rest of us because you like "art" flicks that can be seen by 10 different people and have 10 different interpretations.

Who's pretending anyones smarter? You're the one who made the thread ranting about how shit the film is wanting explanations about why people thought it was so good. That's exactly what you got. I love this movie because it's a great film, not because it makes me feel smarter. If you feel stupid because you didn't get it that's your own inferiority complex, it's not everyone elses fault because they enjoyed the film.
