Honestly, all I want kept is the essence of the character. His background, his personality type (NOES 1984 version), etc. I actually want them to re adapt his look some what and make it fresh and visibily different from England's version of the character. It will help with fans to disassociate from England's take on the character.

Very true. A look change might do this a world of good, and like you said, separate the two versions of the character.

Yup. That way fanboys also won't complain about the creators aping the original, lacking ingenuity, and getting the idea that because he has the same look that the new film discounts the films that came before it.

Instead it clearly draws the line as a new vision. But then as remakes are damned if they do, damned if they don't, the same people who were going to find something to hate regardless will b1tch and moan about "changes" ...
