I watched this again recently and everyone is right, the "kid" definitely saves it. Almost every moment with him is comedy gold.

I know this is like my 5th post about Burial Ground, but I thought it was great!
More than anything, this time I'm commenting on the outstanding quality of the DVD-Shriek Show did a fucking awesome job on the DVD. Great colors, it's brighter, and it beats the hell out of the old VHS. Shriek Show goes to town when they remaster a movie!

I love the professor who says to the zombies "I'm your friend!"
![]() But who can blame him as the flower pot zombies are so likable, I love the "hmmm whats going on in here then?" look some of them have on their faces. And the way after many of their numbers have been taken out by gun shots to the head..they retreat..and come back with a battering ram!! ![]() And I love the way the blonde bimbo, who after getting her foot caught in a trap seems to be having an orgasm for the rest of the flick! where else can you find classic lines like "Mother this cloth smells of death"? If you like cheesy goodness like this, check out Nightmare City and Zombie Creeping Flesh.

![]() Burial Ground:The Nights Of Terror (8.0/10) Once again I have found a movie from my era, the 1980's, that I skipped the first time around (When it first showed up on VHS in 1986, my friends and I skipped it because of it's chessy cover and no pix on the back, in fact we didn't even know it was from 1981 or Italian, which could have changed our minds about picking it up). Now I've seen it in all it's chessy greatness. This movie does stick-out from the barrage of Italian 80's cinema, but not neccessarly for the right reasons. This film, about a group of socialites on a retreat to a professor's castle that gets overrun by a bunch of awakened & hungry zombies, will make you feel like you forgot to take out your copies of Zombi 2 or say City Of The Living Dead, but does have unique charms all it's own. One that stuck out to me was the musical score. Instead of the usual "Goblin-like" music these films usually have, Ground's seemed like it was from the late 50's/early 60's. Very strange at first, but then it adds to it's charm. Of course the cast, notably Peter Bark, add to the fun. Y'know, I was fully prepared for seeing a 25 year old man play a youngster through various legacy noting it, but when I finally saw him, to me he didn't seem all that out of place...in other words, I think the little bugger actually pulled it off! I should also say, this film has decent zombies. Be it they look like extras from "Tombs Of The Blind Dead", but they look pretty good, minus of course shots where you can clearly see the makeup end and actor begin, and what's up with those black lips behind those gnarly teeth? Gorehounds of the 80's will appreciate the level shown here. It's not a massive splatterfest, but get's the job done. Decent ending too. Overall, if you haven't seen it while you have seen other great 80's Italian Horror, see it to fill your knowledge on it's greats. It doesn't take itself too seriously, in fact parts are unintentionally hilarious, but you'll have a good time nonetheless. Last edited by RedSabbath; 02-21-2008 at 06:22 AM. |

"Burial Ground"......I love this totally cheesy classic zombie flick. Some good gore...over the top death scenes....atrocious dialogue....some good and horrible makeup effects...and a few shocking scenes make the movie entertaining. Not to mention a few sexy women and a few handsome men..especially the guy who plays "Mark". Karen Well as "Janet" was annoying as hell. The worst English dubbing/dialogue and the lamest character in the movie. I dont know why they didnt kill her off earlier..like before "Leslie's" death. At least the "Leslie" character was smart and a fighter. The incestuous mother/son duo played by Peter Bark and Mariangela Giordano stole the show. That "breast/nipple bite" is a shocker!! Yuck!! I will rate this cheesefest high..just because it is a popular classic zombie flick and because I love it!!
8/10
