I actually prefer this over the original, which I thought was absolutely atrocious. Not that the sequel was much better, but I didn't wanna kick babies while watching it quite as much as I did with the first.

The originals are awesome, but the remakes are terrible. I haven't actually the second remake, they made such a hash of the first one I've not bothered. I just don;t understand this craze of westernizing all there great Asian films. For some reason Oriental films seem to have a much meaner and suspenseful edge that just cannot be recreated.

The remake of the first was "ok" but I didn't like this movie. The originals are better imo

This movie was absolutely dumb. The first was good for an american remake, but this was just a mess of a film. It was all over the place, dull, and just plain stupid. I did not find anything good about this movie.

It's alright, don't love it, don't hate it. Somewhere in between

"The Ring 2"......This had potential to be a great sequel, but it isn't. It lacks nearly everything that made the first film good, namely scares. And that's the biggest problem. The Ring Two is just flat-out not scary. The Ring's strong point was it's atmosphere. Creepy, eerie, unsettling, and above all, scary. The Ring Two doesn't have much atmosphere. It doesn't really have any sort of suspense whatsoever. It relies far too much on jolt scares. Every once in a while Samara jumps out to say boo, and that's really all there is to the scares. The cast is actually stronger than the 1st part. Naomi Watts(Rachel) is solid once again in the lead role. David Dorfman(Aidan) is "ok". The handsome Simon Baker(Max) is top notch, even though we dont know a whole lot about his character. Last but not least, Sissy Spacek. In a brief but pivotal role as Samara's birth mother, Spacek delivers a wonderful and memorable performance. I love the scene between her and Watt's in the sanitarium. In all, The Ring Two has a well assembled cast that doesn't disappoint. Even though we find out more back story of Samara and her birth mother, we are still left with questions about the "entity" that is Samara. The music score manages to be occasionally chilling with plenty of violins and pianos and the directing is pretty good. The editing and special effects are pretty poor in a few scenes too. But all in all this is a pretty good ghost story.

7/10
