I disagree. The "look" of the film isn't the appeal for me. I thought it was unnerving and made me feel dirty.
It's easy to admit that the overall insanity of the film doesn't compare to the original, but it was certainly better than the third and fourth TCM movies in the franchise.

Well sure, my cat's latest excursion in the litter box would fare better than the third and fourth installments.

no but its an important factor as was having Daniel Pearl behind the camera. Would I have wanted Tobe Hooper behind the camera. Hell no TCM 2 was an epic fail.

Aw come on, TCM 2 was a fun bizarro experience. I think that Nispel tried making a viable remake of TCM, but I just think he missed what made the first film so great. It wasn't just chases that did it for people. Relentless terror with nightmarish situations. The remake was good looking slasher fare with umpteen times more gore. I agree that Hooper would not have done any better. He's a crackpot ole fool now.

Oh I agree TCM 2 was fun but as a sequel to TCM it was horrible. Let's face it you cannot beat the original film but the fact that the remake came of as well as it did surprised the hell out of me.

Though Ive yet to hear anyone that liked TCM:TB I know I thought it was un-needed.

Oh that prequel is like a red-headed stepchild that no one wants around. It ruined Leatherface basically.

TCM 2 = epic fail?
No way, man. You've got to take it for what it is: sick, twisted fun.
Besides, you can't beat Chop Top... "Lick my plate, you dog dick."

TCM 2 is the exact opposite of epic fail.

As a fun little film I agree as a sequel to one of the most raw visceral horror films ever made yes..yes it failed.
