Agreed. I'm getting tired of this whole fascination around gorey french movies. It's pretty clear a lot of people are gonna try to milk that fame. Case in point (apparently): this movie.

But even this is waaaaay higher praise that the rest. At least it is without me looking up reviews to compare this to.I don't know what it is. Are we so desperate for good material from our struggling genre that all it takes is a bloodbath and disturbing kills to make a horror movie "legendary?" 'Cause, if Inside was "legendary," than frankly, I give up. The Strangers > Inside.

I've said it before but I honestly think Inside in terms of logic and characters was no better than a late 90s slasher film. The only difference is that Inside was 'Br00t4l'.
I'd prefer to see more movies like Sweeney Todd over films like Inside and Frontiers that are brutal for brutals sake.

I got the SE Sweeny as one of the DVD's from BD for the write off, and I still have yet to watch it.

Couple things:
Really, REALLY dug Inside, having nothing to do with pre-release hype. I just dug on the simplicity of the story, the kick-ass gore (a good way to make me like your movie is to marinate it in blood...somewhat shallow I suppose, but true nonetheless), a great and rather frightening new horror villain, cool and entirely new (to my knowledge, anyway) storyline, and a beautifully downbeat (and grisly) ending. Initially liked Frontiere(s), but after 10 viewings it had slipped from good to mediocre to lousy. The touting of the savagery in that movie is some of the most blatantly false hype I've ever come across. I'm curious about Martys, but not for the "shocking footage"...I mean I've seen some pretty nasty shit that no movie could duplicate. Still, it looks like it has potential (which I have based solely on the trailers). I'll see it. I didnt like The Strangers. At all! Wasnt a bad movie by any means but it just seemed to be scene after scene of hackneyed stalk/chase situations with not a shred of anything inventive. And I don't mean inventive like the strangers turn out to be werewolves or some other ridiculous shit; but inventive in setting up some new scare scenarios, let's see people trapped in a place we've never seen before, or stalemates that end in unusual ways or what have you. I felt like I had the script telegraphed in my head ten minutes in. Again, fairly entertaining little spookshow that had could have been so much more.

So the word around is that this movie is rather shite and will only appeal to shallow gorehounds. It's supposidly boring, has no character development, has no real story but has plenty of violence.
Anyone surprised?

Every one is saying that this movie is bad. But how many have really seen it?
I know, “the most shocking movie ever filmed”, sounds a bit exaggerating, but I don’t think it is bad as people say. And let’s be honest, in the last 10 years, outside of France we (I’m from Portugal) only have seen something like 10 French horror movies. So what happened to all the others? So I don’t think there are a hype…
