Default HAMMER'S BEYOND THE RAVE (2008)

Saw a preview of the complete film and it's very entertaining. Fast paced and action-packed. Has echoes of Blade and Buffy for the Myspace generation with its MTV fast edits.

The story is a reworking of Hammer's classic Dracula AD 1972, and Ingrid Pitt gives a great performance. Les Simpson, who plays one of the vampires, steals the show. Can't wait to see him in Doomsday.

The first episode goes live on Myspace (17th April 200, and will be 20 episodes. So watch it!!!!!

You call that a good thing?!

Fuck this Hammer revival. I'll start watching when they start creating real Hammer films.

Ok so it's like an updated Hammer film, but does it have any of things that fans love about the ones from back in the day?

Default HAMMER'S BEYOND THE RAVE

I am a HUGE Hammer fan and saw the trailer for this. It's a business decision to make it so "Blade"-like...the younger fans will be interested...the older fans...like myself, will support this new Hammer anyway. I've heard they have plans to remake some of their old classics and to do some "period pieces" as soon as they get "re-established". As far as the "old Hammer coming back"...most of those people are no longer with us (we just lost Freddie Francis a few months ago)...there's still Roy Ward Baker, Peter Sasdy, Jimmy Sangster etc. and a few of the actors (thanks Ingrid...)....if you love Hammer...DO NOT diss them...they have actually asked this in print...they have asked for a year or two to get it all together....surely these people deserve that....

If these people ruin Hammer, they deserve to die.

Making Hammer "MTV" is going to ruin it. Mark my words.

I don't want the old people back. Most of them are way too old anyway.

The thing is that the UK make tv period dramas all the time with high production values. So why the hell do Hammer have to sell out and make an MTV like production.

I'm not supporting someone just because of their name. As far as I'm concerned this is not Hammer. At all.

The little I have heard about it doesn't sound good so far, but I'm willing to give this a chance. If it sucks, though, I'm not going to say it doesn't just because it's Hammer.

O.K....I understand...it's over....for many people....just buy the DVDs of the old Hammer flicks...they're classics....I, for one, would like to see some higher quality, well-written, British, Gothic horror flicks with great sets and that Hammer-look. I enjoyed "Mary Shelly's Frankenstein" and "Sleepy Hollow"....they were very "Hammer-esq"....it would be so cool to see remakes of "Quatermas and the Pit", "The Gorgon", "Plague of the Zombies" and "The Devil Rides Out"....maybe a new Dracula and Frankenstein series...or some of those projects they planned but never made. As far as the attitude that they "just want our money" or whatever....well, I hope you all enjoy the "Friday the 13th" remake...jeeezz!

Just what I was going to say.

It's not about having the $ to buy the name, it's about the level of integrity & quality associated with it.

Quality that seems to be missing from the get-go.

Might as well stick Misty fucking Mundae in the shit instead of trying to capitalize on Ingrid Pitt's name, since that's going to be their apparent target audience anyway.

And really... the whole "rave" scene is already out dated.
