I never watched the Japanese version but the US remake was awesome! It's a really creepy movie and I really like it. Everytime I see a well I think of this movie. Knowing that you were going to die in seven days would be horrible.

I wanna see the second and Japanese version.

It's always the same with remakes - whilst the original had nothing to compare itself to, the remake tries to outdo everything in the original, but they just end up cheapening it.

*In the original, you DO NOT see Sadako's face - much more creepier.
*What's with all the water appearing everywhere in the remake? Again, they try and overdo everything.
*The 'death faces' in the remake is now cgi (which makes for less realism because in the original they were just frightened to death)
*Why does it look like Samara is made out tv static?
*The horses scene has already been done many times before in other movies.
*They have to over-explain everything as usual, for fear the audience is too dumb to get it.
*The Ring relies too much on 'jump scares' rather than having a creepy atmosphere.

The Ring was average.... at best.

Ring 2 sucked.

'Rings' was actually decent and to the point.

The American version is phenomenal and one of the best remakes.

The Ring, US version, is easily one of the best remakes ever

Gore Verbinski did a great job with it

I always did prefer the Grudge, gotta love that famous grudge walk toward the ending.

I wish Verbinski would've done the sequel. I do think the end TV scene is better in the original, but overall, I think the remake is far superior. Rings was actually really good though.

The Ring remains my favorite horror movie of all time. Ringu was a great concept, but poorly executed film. Not the slightest bit creepy or scary like Verbinski's far superior effort was.

And I loved The Ring 2 - it was heads above all the utterly crappy Ringu sequels.

I would love to read Suzuki's books, but I'm still waiting, years later, for regular paperbacks. I HATE trade paperbacks, the only version in which I've seen the books.

If someone wants to buy the 4 Ringu movie pack, watched only once, let me know. I need to make room on my DVD rack. :\

"The Ring".....This 2002 horror flick was all the rage when it first came out. It is a very suspenseful and creepy film, and it still holds up pretty good today. Makeup effects are terrific, direction by Gore Verbinski is solid, and the music score by Hans Zimmer is good. There are many memorable moments throughout the film. The cast is hit and miss for me. Naomi Watts(Rachel) of course being the major standout. David Dorfman as "Aidan" is ok and Daveigh Chase as "Samara" is splendid. I thought Martin Henderson as "Noah" was kinda weak. All in all this movie is a damn fine horror hit!!

9/10
