The problem isn't CGI being used, it's the way that it's used. If it's used in a way that you don't notice or in a way where it blends in seamlessly, it's fine. I do prefer that movies use as much make-up & prosthetics as possible, but in watching the behind the scenes for some films, their reasoning for going the CGI route makes sense.

Sometimes it's the easier process to take, not out of laziness, but just to save everyone involved time doing something unnecessarily.

For instance, most people probably didn't notice that half of the blade that was in Richie's head in the reboot was CGI.

Yeah, I agree. It serves a purpose sometimes. I'm just a nostalgia junkie i guess.

I am too, I just try to sympathize with the people behind the scenes, as CGI is a lot of times the lesser of two evil's, so to speak.

The Laid to Rest films are the only slasher flicks that perfectly blended practical FX and CGI for me.

I don't care if it saves time, money etc. it rarely looks right to me when they use CGI in kill scenes.

The F13th reboot for example. The ax blade sticking out of Lawrence's chest was so obviously CGI it took me of the movie.

Other than that it wasn't really noticeable in the reboot.

Really? It didn't take me out of the movie, I thought it was executed fairly well, especially considering all of the other horrible CGI kill sequences I've seen.

But yeah, CGI in horror movies does tend to be lazily applied. I like when it's done in a subtle manner or a way where you can't even guess what's CGI & what's being done with prosthetics & make-up.

It's all apart of the franchise.
