Default ''A Nightmare on Elm Street, Part 2: Freddy's Revenge'' -- underrated as fuck!

(Searched for a thread for this specific film, there wasn't one)

NIGHTMARE 2 is great.

It's extemely chilling in numerous places (the shower scene especially) - there is a feeling of dread and unease throughout, some of the direction is extemely creative, some great kills, the pool scene etc etc.

The thing that makes this the best in the series for me is how frightening Freddy is. He's scarier in this installment than any of the others combined. And he's not a joker here, either. He's mean, creepy and means business.

Freddy's make-up in this one blows his makeup in every other Nightmare film out of the water.

This film also has some of the best effects of the series and the music is great.

The gay undertones add to the film, not take away from it. And I'm straight.

Anyone else agree with me that this is the best of the bunch?

I love this film and it sickens me that it gets so little respect.

Yeah I know but I thought we could have a thread solely dedicated to this film, so things are more clear, y'know?

There was already a thread for this that got merged with one of the many existing Nightmare threads...or was deleted. I'm not sure which, but this will probably meet the same fate.

There's really only four Nightmare films I enjoy (although haven't watched the middle ones in ages but recall not liking them much). I have a hard time ranking them---Parts I, II, III, and New Nightmare. Part II may very well be my second favorite because I like the serious Freddy a ton more. It's probably tied with New Nightmare for my second favorite. The orig is a classic to me and the other three favorites have their faults but are decent flicks overall.

I was saying pretty much the same thing like 2 days ago in the "Movies you like that everyone hates" thread.

I wouldn't say it's the "best", though. It's my fave but I don't think it's the best.

I'll take this one over the slapstick bullshit ones that followed. Maybe that doesn't say much positive about the series but it's a pretty weak franchise to be honest.

I would put this one before some of them. I like it, but the original is the best, followed closely by part 3. I would put FvJ in a totally different category, and I was not a huge fan of New Nightmare because Freddy looked like rubber and the glove was gone; I didn't like the replacement hand thing. So, for me, Part 2 is the third best, followed by four, six / NN, and five is my least favorite.
