BD Timeout

We've implemented a new system called "BD Timeout".. It's for users who can't seem to control themselves and need to take a little break.

When placed in timeout you can view the legacy like normal but you can't post. You'll receive a PM letting you know how long your stay will be, and once that's up your account will be fully reinstated.

This feature is currently in BETA and may or may not stick around depending on members reactions and effectiveness. It's purpose is to be an alternative to banning users who would otherwise be constructive members.

one thing we ask of our members who are NOT in timeout, is that you don't talk about or continue flame wars about members who are placed in timeout.

Great idea, but sounds pretty funny...it's kind of like Kindergarten all over again.

It sounds like a certain forum's Jail system, but with a cuter name for it. The idea rubs me the wrong way. I dunno why.

that's sort of the point... we don't want it to be anything severe or insulting like the infractions, more of a way to get the point across that you just might need to take a step away and settle down.

haha..

obviously it's not going to be abused, and not going to be used that often.. it's pretty much a last resort before banning a user so most people won't have to worry about it.

Good idea! If members talk about people who are in time out, I say throw them in there as well. All talking about them will do is cause more problems.

Hopefully this works out.
