Fucking solid. My favorite since Holy Wood, easily. No, it isn't a hard industrial rock album like Antichrist Superstar, but Manson's always been a stylistic chameleon. It's much more musically intricate than some of his past releases, and has a bit of a film score feel to it, likely due to his work with Tyler Bates (who scored several Rob Zombie films, as well as the television show Salem).

Recommend tracks: "Slave Only Dreams To Be King", "Cupid Carries A Gun", "Deep Six".

Nice.

Have been looking forward to this.

You should have posted this in the Marilyn Manson thread, just saying.

Significantly better, in my opinion. And I really liked Born Villain, especially the almost Sisters of Mercy-esque post-punk approach of "The Flowers Of Evil" and the title track.

The one Manson album that I consider subpar is The High End Of Low, which is simply a bad record, overlong and incoherent. This blows THEOL out of the water completely. It's only ten tracks long, but focused and consistent throughout. And the production is killer - lots of swirly little background guitar harmonies on "The Mephistopheles Of Los Angeles" that you might miss the first listen or two, for example.

I'm one of those rare Manson fans who think s that ACSS is basically in the middle of the discography, and who enjoys his later work much more, though, so caveat emptor.

Giving it a listen now.

Really digging it so far. It's feels stripped back but dirty at the same time. Really liking the production as well.

Will listen more tomorrow but so far it's pretty good.

Just given this a listen and liked it. I don't think it's better than Born Villain myself but like all his albums it needs a few listens to fully appreciate.

I'm a big fan of Manson's and think Mechanical Animals and Anti Christ Superstar are incredible. I even enjoy his less popular Eat Me, Drink and High End of Low works.

Anyone read the recent article in Rolling Stone? Great read! Marilyn Manson the Vampire of the Hollywood Hills

What was the Manson song you posted not too long ago in the 'what are you listening to' thread, pretty sure it was off the new album. Was it Deep Six if so that is a brilliant track.
