Exclamation Maximum Overdrive (1986)

Plot

When a mysterious comet passes close within the Earth, machines all over the World come alive and go on homicidal rampages. A group of people in a desolate Truck Stop are held hostage by a gang of homicidal 18-wheelers. The frightened people set out to defeat the killer machines...or be killed by them.

Trailer

Before seeing this film the only things I knew were: that the film is based ona Stephen King short story and that Emilio Estevez & Yeardley Smith were in it, that’s it. I never knew SK had directed a film and he did a nice job with this one so I think he should had directed more of his films. Well, since I barely knew anything about this film I enjoyed it a lot and the music by AC/DC rocks!!! The action is fun and there are some pretty good kills in this one, though it isn't anything that is scary at all. This movie s so damn underrated I don’t remember seeing anyone talking about it in any forum. With so many 80’s horror (which is my thing)films I have seen I didn’t think any good ones were left for me to see. 80’s horror fans this movie is for you.

Any fans!?

I love this movie and I have advice, never see it on tv. They cut out 74% of the gore. The acting is medicore but who cares when there's action every 7 minutes! This needs a remake or at least another movie with the same plot. This has an extremely original story. Imagine, how scary would it be if every machine had a mind of their own!? Stephen had the guts also to show a young boy get crushed

I enjoyed it, and the concept is excellent. But I picked up some stick for picking it in the Horror Draft, and I get why.
This is one movie that is SCREAMING out for a remake.

Yeah, I noticed you picked it last year on Round 10.

I hope they don't remake this but while I was watching this the idea did come to mind and I won't be surprise when it happens.

I thought it was entertaining. I don't think I'll ever watch it again though.

Agreed. I still like the original but would love to see a remake. The story line has loads of potential if done properly.

There already IS a remake. It's called TRUCKS(like the original short story by King),and it sucks.Takes itself too seriously. They show it a lot on Sci-Fi. A story as ridiculous as that really needs a sense of humor to work. King says he set out to make a "popcorn movie" and I think he really accomplished it.Not to overuse an already overused term these days but M.O. truly has a "grindhouse" spirit.

This a a great fun film. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is just a great time

I have a very warm spot in my horror heart for this flick. It's probably one of the best King adaptions out there. How can you not love a killer soda machine maiming little leaguers and the ACDC soundtrack was perfect. But head the warnings of others.... the TV versions of this suck mighty ass. Rent (or buy if its cheap) There is a ton of mayhem in it.
