Hell, now you're just twisting people's words.
He's been making a habit of doing that in the Scream 4 thread for a long time.

No, the unknown is not the most terrifying thing, as it has no essence to perceive.
I think I'll leave you to argue with yourself and you can have the remake too.

It could be the "A New Beginning" of the TCM franchise.

Leatherface 3D... what a joke. The whole thing is such an awful idea.

Default So, a lot of Texas Chain Saw was real?

Sorry if this isn't own-thread material, merge or close if you want, mods.

Anyway, I never really versed myself in the production of the original TCM so it came as a surprise that a lot of the acting wasn't really that.

By the time they shot the running portion of the film, so my friend tells me, Marilyn Burns (Sally) was pretty much half-crazed in real life, just from the experience of making the film. She actually got her finger sliced by Gunnar Hansen (Leatherface) who was apparently alienated from the rest of the cast for the entire shoot and feeling very isolated. By the time the dinner scene rolled around, they'd been shooting for almost 20 hours straight with the lights, so it was like 120F in the house, and the cast and crew were losing touch with reality. The head cheese and other food in the room was rotting from the incessant heat, filling the room with an unbearable stench (crew members frequently had to vomit). Edwin Neil and Jim Siedow are screaming "Kill her! Kill her!" and Gunnar just lost it: he actually thought he was supposed to kill Marilyn. This wore off after a minute or so, when he realised he was acting. But for a moment, he was so into his character, and the shoot itself was so insane, that he lost touch with reality briefly. He also says that while holding the hammer over her head, he was intent on actually murdering her...before, in a moment of clarity, realizing "I'm only an actor. This is just a character I'm playing." The scene reflects the mounting insanity of the cast & crew by this point.

Marilyn was actually put through a hell of a lot during the course of the shoot. Much of the blood you see on her at the end of the film is her own...from running through the woods at night (which I know was rare for low-budget horror films of the time), unchoreographed, getting slashed by the branches of the trees, getting beaten with a broom-handle (for real -- Tobe Hooper was off-screen, telling Jim Siedow, "hit her harder, really hit her!"), etc. A lot of the screaming, the crazed look in her eyes, wasn't acting.

Wow, fascinating and fucked up to learn. Another reason it's more authentic than the remake, where Jessica Biel had the privilege of being on a strictly controlled Hollywood set + trailer.
