Allison Scagliotti

Emilie Ullerup just looks too posh.

Looks like some people agree with you:

Based on that picture you posted, I think she could pull off Cassie's look.

^^^ I am so ready to read that

My friend actually did a Hack/Slash cover that will come out in October.

I read True Blood volume 1. It was terrible and perfect example of cashing in on the series. I am reading Green Lantern: Blackest Night it is getting a little to cheesy for me, but I typically don't read superhero comics. Lady Mechanika and the new issue of The Walking Dead were great.

So, after I posted the alternate costumes being featured in the Arkham City thread, I decided to share my favorite alternate costumes of well-known heroes. I want to know yours as well. Also, if you dig re-imagining of costumes you should check out Project: Rooftop.

House of M Spider-Man:

I have always been partial to the alternate costumes of his. Especially this one. The Ben Reily Spider-Man costume has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and I still dig it. But I fell in love with this version of the costume from House of M.

Justice Lord Batman:

Definitely the Justice Lord version of Batman. It just seems like a natural evolution of the costume. It is the missing link between Bruce Batman and Terry's Batman Beyond suit. I know it looks a tad like Batman and Robin's dreadful costume with the silver, but this just looks seamless and streamlined.

The Thing:

Ben Grimm, The Thing, has been and will forever be my favorite Marvel hero. Spidey is a close second, but there has always been something about the blue-eyed kid from Yancy street. Though, the Ultimate version of him has changed, I still think that this body-suit wearing version fits his personality best.

Superman Beyond:

I've always been partial to a Superman without a cape. When I was younger I loved the Black and Silver version of Superman, as well as the Blue version (even if the electric powers sucked). This is a merger of the two for me. It just seems right to see him without the cape. It is partially why I love Dick Grayson's Nightwing. It just works. Although, if you want to keep the cape, this costume from Superman:Godfall is amazing as well.

Wolverine:

Yea, I have to add him. He isn't really a favorite of mine. He is a cool character and all, but I find him a tad bit overrated. However, the new X-force costume he has been sporting is sexy as hell. It just fits for him as well. He is the best there is at what he does, right? So why is he wearing the oh-so-stealthy Yellow and Blue all of the time? This costume screams Black Operations.

Captain America:

With his film just coming out and the fact that we see not one, not two, but THREE versions of his costume in it, I figured it would be time to share my favorite of his. Though, I do dig the Steve Roger's S.H.E.I.L.D/Top Cop costume he has been sporting lately. I think this look is one of his best (including his stint as NOMAD). Bucky's cap was too shiny. Though, the Avenger's film Cap looks beautiful.

The Hulk:

Here is a character that doesn't really have alternate costumes as much as alternate personalities. That is honestly what they used to account for the different colored Hulks and different degrees of intelligence he has at different points in the comics. Though, let me be clear. The Red Hulk, or RULK, is a completely different person. The same goes for the Red She-Hulk. This version of the Hullk made me fall in love with the character all over again. Easily one of the best time-ins of the crossover. This is the House of M Hulk. Sure, this is the second entry on my list from that crossover, but you know what? It is a great event. The best Marvel has put out in years. Plus, this is the Hulk that led to the Planet Hulk version. Smart and brutal. As a matter of fact, this Hulk took over Australia in the Crossover and Magneto is afraid of him. Interested now? That's what I thought.

Wonder Woman:

If ever there was a character that needed to be re-vamped, it is Diana. Sure, she has great qualities, but her costume was dated. The new version of her costume just seems like a missed opportunity to me. She is a warrior princess of a mythical land. Let's go with the version I dig, shall we? Does that look like a warrior? Does that costume look like it will hold it's own and be as iconic as the other member's of the Justice League? Most importantly, doesn't it look better without the stylized red, white, and blue? She isn't American, why make her wear their flag? This is the Flashpoint version of her, by the way.

Martian Manhunter:

This is an alien character. Perhaps the most alien member of the JLA, despite being from a neighboring world while Kal-El is from a galaxy away. He should look it. I have always been interested in his style of dress, though more often than not, it is used poorly. I just dig this look. It is a thousand times better than bare-chested green Mr. Clean.

Daredevil:

Matt Murdock has a few classic costumes, hell, some of his lesser-known costumes have been featured in games such as Ultimate Alliance. The one featured in Shadowland had an Asian twist to his classic design. Which fits, considering he is a martial artist (trained by Stick and various other MU martial artists). I just can't get over how sleek and awesome his Secret Wars costume is, though. Which is why I chose it. His black armored costume is a bit of a joke in the comics community, but I dug what they were trying to do with it. Too bad they failed so hard.

Iron Man:

Tony Stark has a lot of armor. Seriously, this man has so many Iron Man suits, he has to keep them in secret bunkers. Hell, he had to destroy one personally during Dark Reign and Osborne was still able to get a suit and retro-fit it. This is one of my favorites, not because of why it was built, or what it does. It just looks cool. And at the end of the day, isn't that what's important? Well, with the exception of his Ultimate suit. That was just too strange. Runner up Juggernaut looking armor.

War Machine:

I had to include him. Especially if you take into account that for the first time ever, Rhodey doesn't have a hand-me-down suit. His new suit that he is rocking RIGHT NOW is a prototype that has features that Tony doesn't even have. Stealth mode, invisibility, surveillance. It is like Batman built the damn suit. Plus, it looks kind of sexy.

Bobby Drake/Iceman:

If you start messing with alternate versions of the X-men, you're in a world of shit. They have so many alternate realities and twisted futures, that EVERY member has a badass version. Even Dazzler. This is actually a scene from X-Men:Ronin in which Bobby transforms into something awesome and makes a brief appearance. He has also made a similar form in his Ultimate version.

Green Arrow:

When you get down to it, up until Kevin Smith took a crack at him, Green Arrow was only interesting once in his existance. And that was when Speedy became a junky. After Mr. Smith did his thing, Ollie has become a more fleshed out, awesome character. While his heartbreaking fall from grace recently has made him a bit of a joke and outlaw, his costume has never looked better. It was down right silly before, and only recently with the addition of the hood (which Smallville stole) has it become cool.

Sinestro:

After 40 years of crappy blue tights, It was about time this character got a costume update and what an update it was! I had to include at least one villain and since both Dr. Doom and The Joker have classic untouchable looks, Sinestro gets it. His new costume is, excuse me, WAS sexy. (He is now a member of the GL corps again)

Hercules:

This guy was a joke. Seriously. Right up until World War Hulk, he was a throwaway character created only as a response to Thor's absence from the Avengers. His costume was a weird gladiator type garb that was recently replaced with a modernly awesome suit.

Thor:

Speaking of the big guy, I have to mention him. Other than Beta-Ray Bill (Look him up, poozer), Thor's look is pretty much his own. He has been changed a few times, mostly in subtle ways. Though, he has had a radical change to his classic costume in The Ultimates, he really has stayed practically the same over the years. Except for the costume he came back from the dead with following Marvel's Civil War. I dug it a lot.

Beast:

Hank McCoy's costumes haven't been the problem. They haven't really changed as much as he has. He has gone from a disproportionate mutant, to a furry blue man, to an ape, to a brute, to a god-damned cat. The picture is my favorite incarnation of him.

Green Lantern:

Sure, this is a cheat. There are 7,200 different Green Lanterns in the galaxy. 4 of which are stationed in sector 2814 (Earth's sector). What kind of cop-out is this? I'm a Hal Jordan man. I dug Kyle Rayner when he was Ion, that look was great, but I'm a Green Lantern fan. Not a former GL with new powers (Guy Gardner "Warrior"). Hal Jordan has had some great looks in his career. Classic, re-envisioned, Grey hair, Parallax. None of which can touch the newest version of Hal. There is just something about the GL "badge" and the streamlining of the suit. Sure they all look the same in the modern look, but who cares? I'm a Hal guy.

Aquaman:

This guy is usually considered a joke by those not "in the know." Arthur has had some ups and some downs. Some great stories and decades without a decent one. His looks have changed significantly, but I have to say that this one is my favorite. Sure, it is the ONLY look on my list to not be a canon appearance. In fact, it is fan created, but damn is it awesome. It is from Project: Rooftop's Aquaman redesign contest. The only thing that would make this version better is if they included the boots from this version.

Alright, I'm going to end this with two more alternate costumes.

Hank Pym:

He has not only changed costumes, but names as well. He has been Giant Man, Ant Man, Goliath, YellowJacket, The Wasp, Scientist Supreme, and plain of Hank Pym, but to be completely honest? My favorite costume was his tribute. A lot of people hated it, I thought it was a bit fitting.

Catwoman:

Purple isn't her color. Skirts are overrated. Sewn leather looks ridiculous, and SCREW HALLE BERRY. The newest version of Catwoman is certainly the most interestingly seductive. He costume, attitude and even her damn hairstyle is so fitting that it has lasted for more than a decade now. It took a while, but she found a look that fits.

And one more for the road:

The Flash's costume. Let me just put it this way -Wally West is just my version of The Flash. Sure, Barry is cool and all and Jay's tin hat is retro-tastic. But, I have always loved Wally's costume. I have yet to see a Flash costume that screams speed force so loud. Even Dark Flash and Impulse aren't good enough to compete with Wally's re-envisioning of the costume. Yea, Wally's costume just has a Darker red and a few subtle changes. It is mostly color change, but you know what? It works. Just Google "Wally West Flash." I'm not even going to post a picture. I'll let you see the awesomeness in it's natural habitat.

Actually, you know what, I would like to mention that I prefer the ultimate version of Nick Fury to the classic 616 version. Sam Jackson letting them use his likeness turned out to be a brilliant financial move for him and an interesting turn of events for the fans.

With that long post out of the way, what are some of your favorite alternate costumes for your heroes?

Oh and one more thing:

Project: Rooftop's JLA Band. Do you dig it? I do.

Let me be the first on this site to say the following after reading Ultimate Fallout #4:

Go fuck yourself, Bendis.
Spoiler Below

MILES MORALES?! Really? Yea. I don't think I want to follow a Spider-Man title without Peter Parker. I thought they might bring him back saying he didn't die, but come on? Really? I look forward to seeing Miles become the Ultimate version of Tarantula when the comic starts failing and they bring Peter back.

Is this for real?

Spoiler Below
I heard some buzz about this. Had to stop collecting comics @ 3 years ago so don't know what's been going on really. I just read on characters using Wiki or Comicvine now and then. Are they really "killing" Peter Parker off only in Ultimate Spiderman or in the.. 616(?) main universe too?

I generally hate the killing of any characters. So many come back, that even if one never did, you still go to your death bed expecting them to return any issue now...

I actually just read about that and can't say I'm really pleased about it.

Think I might go tomorrow and read up on it. They better have the continuation to that X-Men Comic where the X-Men and Spider-Man are in the sewers hunting lizard children. Been about a month since I read it and I want to see what happened to the X-Men
