The ideas are old and ultimately dated.... but certainly a brilliant mind wrote this work.

So much more happens in this book than I remember from when I was a child. Each chapter has an epic and exciting scene with amazing mystical characters, and many parts (especially towards the end) are incredibly emotional. Thorin Oakenshield is one of my favorite characters. There is, indeed, enough material to make a trilogy in this book. Weeks pass in just a few sentences sometimes and so many things that are huge and detailed are just briefly mentioned (rock giants, being trapped by the wood elves for weeks, hanging out by the mountain for weeks, the various trials of Mirkwood). I am beyond excited to see these films.

Talk about one shitty life. This guy pretty much grew up in poverty, shifting between shitty housing, parents and step parents and trailer parks, then thrown in jail for 18 years, death row, for a crime he didn't commit. But throughout all of doom and gloom Damien focuses on all the small and wonderful details of life that make it worth living. It doesn't get bogged down too much in the WM3 trial but instead he focuses on his life before and after jail, but his writings from Death Row are pretty awful. This book will have you running the entire gamut of human emotions. It's sad but also uplifting and inspiring and very well written. A must read for those who have followed this case.

Can't wait to see Beorn! And it would be nice if Tom Bombadil were somewhere lurking about.

Clown in the Moonlight by Tom Picirrilli. Just an amazing writer who never disappoints.

"Son of Tarzan" Edgar Rice Burroughs

I love the Tarzan series. Always the page turner.
