Yeah your right it's basically the same formula, friend or friend of a friend gets in trouble , they get involved, shit spirals out of control, cue first fights and shoot outs, some fucking and wise cracking. But the same could be said of any P.I. series it follows a formula that's quite similar and that's what makes it successful. It's not complicated it's meat and potatoes. I could read and re-read Hap and Leonard over and over.

Never read anymore of Ned the Seal but what I read in reviews , sounds like it's wild as fuck! Kind of like a Terry Gilliam film mixed with a western. With a bit of flipper chucked in even though it's a Seal instead of a Dolphin.

Lansdale's Jubil Rains/Jebidah Mercer stories, such as Dead In The West, are among my favorites, a monster-hunting old time preacher come gun-slinger stalking the old west encountering all kinds of strangeness, and unleashing " His God" upon it.

Recently finished The Complete Drive-In by Joe R. Lansdale. Someone really needs to turn this story into a movie.

The first chapter in the infamous Thrawn trilogy, the first post-Jedi SW "cannon" that Lucas approved.

Verrrrrry intersting. I look forward to seeing where the series goes.
These post-Jedi SW books, while far from perfect, are leaps and bounds better than the vast majority of any novels that take place earlier.

The Girl with the Dragon tattoo by Stieg Larsson. I can't understand what the big deal is. The story is good enough to make you finish it, but it was in no way something so amazing that warrented the hype this book received.

LOL! Yeah that's a totally fucked up book the pearl-diving St.Gutfree and is backstory is one of my favourites in there.Still have to try and get my hands on Damned yet.
