Just checked my theaters site and there's a lot more hfr's this time. Last year, there were two theaters and the one I went to, which was almost an hour away, is now half the price.

Same here. The opening day and the following are littered with HFR screenings, but I catched one at Friday at noon in 2D. For 8 bucks total. Cinema will be almost empty and my eyes will be spared from aching due to the HFR shit.

Actually, that's the price it is now at the one I saw it at. It's called a 'megascreen', which is really the size of a fake imax, maybe a little bigger. Im sure this will look better in the hfr, since the first half of Hobbit was live action, without a lot of cgi.

Live action or CGI, it didn't/doesn't matter. In the end it looked like a badly animated XBox or Playstation game, totally lacking the film feeling. It was horrible.
Thankfully I will see it later in IMAX 3D too, without the distracting HFR.

I didn't mind it halfway through, but it looked goofy to me during the first 30 minutes. As of right now, its only the hfr showing, but Im sure theyll add more.

The end credit song is out:

I don't know this guy at all. Well, the magic of the LOTR ones is def gone, but the current one isn't so disappointing like the previous, which was utter garbage. Still, it doesn't spark anything in me.

Plus, the score is out! But not in its entirety, only one minute from each track as a preview. Go here to listen and getting goosebumbs like I did. It def. sounds darker and heavier, just like the one in The Two Towers. Howard Shore is just a genius. My favorite part is at the 21:00 mark -awesome, those dark bells.
For anyone interested in the tracklist, here we go:

Disc One
1. The Quest for Erebor (3:24)
2. Wilderland (4:56)
3. The House of Beorn (3:52)
4. Mirkwood (4:28 )
5. Flies and Spiders (7:51)
6. The Woodland Realm (4:27)
7. Feast of Starlight (2:49)
8. Barrels Out of Bond (1:50)
9. The Forest River (4:54)
10. Bard, a Man of Lake-town (2:30)
11. The High Fells (2:37)
12. The Nature of Evil (3:20)
13. Protector of the Common Folk (3:37)

Disc two
1. Thrice Welcome (3:34)
2. Girion, Lord of Dale (3:33)
3. Durin’s Folk (2:28 )
4. In the Shadow of the Mountain (2:15)
5. A Spell of Concealment (2:51)
6. On the Doorstep (7:46)
7. The Courage of Hobbits (3:00)
8. Inside Information (3:48 )
9. Kingsfoil (2:25)
10. A Liar and a Thief (3:41)
11. The Hunters (9:04)
12. Smaug (5:24)
13. My Armor Is Iron (5:16)
14. I See Fire performed by Ed Sheeran (5:00)
15. Beyond the Forest (5:27)

Already preordered.

I can't wait. I think it will be a lot darker and more twisted like the first film. The score snippets perfectly foreshadow the atmosphere.

Yeah Shore was born to do this music.

We should call him Howard Shire

this is a very handy description.
But I concur. He was just destined to do this by the universe. Definitely the highlight of his glorious career.

I once listened out of curiosity to the A History Of Violence OST and instantly recognized his handwriting without knowing it was his accomplishment. I like that, when you recognize after a few seconds who actually wrote the music.
