Default King Kong: Skull Island (2016)

Legendary to produce new KING KONG film: Skull Island

Quote:
Legendary Entertainment packed its film panel today with plenty of monsters (Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah), but a small teaser at the end of the Hall H event today glimpsed an unexpected one: King Kong. It was Legendary’s way of unveiling that it will be making a feature film based on King Kong’s home Skull Island. That film will be released November 4, 2016. From the studio’s release: “Previous works have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions.”

As much as I love Godzilla, when it comes down to these two, King Kong has always been my top favourite. I can not fucking wait for this.

Is this going to be a whole new Kong movie, a prequel, or a sequel? Either way, I'll watch it.

I would have to agree with this.

I watch King Kong ('33) every Thanksgiving. In fact, it's probably my second most watched film. Yeah, I am definitely excited about this one!

Those enormous kaiju tracks overarching the landscape look suspiciously like a money trail.

For goodness sakes, is nothing safe from Legendary's Moolah Monster Massacre. I think they'd rebuild the Pyramid at Giza if they thought they could make a nickel off of it.

I enjoyed the remake but I find it almost impossible to re-watch... the melodramatic elements in the last hour killed a lot of what I loved about it.

But I love the character and Skull Island is amazing so I'm all for this.

I've seen the remake a few times, and I never watched the first part of the movie to this day. I would always skipped to part where they reach Skull Island.

Thought the remake was okay. Couldn't dig dramatic Jack Black though.

Looking forward to seeing a new one, so long as they don't rehash the story once again.

I hope they make Kong, Godzillas size so we can get a rematch between them.
