Default Downfall / Der Untergang

Has anyone else here seen this movie? Has to be one of the best war movies i've ever seen, performances are stellar and it's a nice change to see the second world war from the other side, it fleshes out Hitler as a person too, insted of displaying him as nothing more than a target.

It's my second fave war movie after Brotherhood/Tae Guk Gi

This is a great movie, with easily the best portrayal of Hitler I've seen. Highly recommended!

I got about half an hour into it - and it was shaping up to be a great movie - when the subtitles decided to randomly stop working. They were there. I'd reverse the DVD a few seconds and they'd come back. But, a few minutes later they'd do it again. So it became too much of a hastle to watch. It wasn't bootleg, it was an official release.
I'll watch it again with my woman, who has her own copy.

You might want to check out Das Experiment which is also from the same director. Pretty damn good.

It's right here waiting for you.

Yes, seen it. Own it. Love it. Bruno Ganz is just amazing. This is only the second movie I've ever seen him in. The first was Wings of Desire. Downfall was quite interesting. I have a feeling that this is probably the closest you'll ever come to seeing what Hitler might have really been like.

I learnt some new things from it too, i never knew Hitler had parkinsons...

Sucks about your copy screwing up, i don't actually own it yet, i just watched it for my film lesson.

Two disc version is on amazon

Actually, this movie was on Sundance or something a few weeks ago... I saw the last half hour of it, and I loved it... The description had me very intrigued, and then I loved how it had a description at the end for each of Hitler's party members and generals and shit... I gotta check out the rest of it though...

I get really disturbed by this subject matter so at the time this came out i did not feel like viewing it in the theater.....but my husband went and was impressed and blown away and worried about how into character Bruno Ganz was and that he might need therapy afterwarads because he seemed to become Hitler
