Yeah, you're not missing anything with the 2nd, not even with the Corey Haim cameo at the end. It was basically a remake of the original with a minimal budget and smaller concept

The 3rd one was pretty cool, good story, tho low budget of course, and the end sets up a forth with a bit of a new direction, dunno if they'll ever make it, but would be cool if they did

I met this cow, with this blank, pale, emotionless face, and the blackest eyes... the devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach her, and then another seven trying to keep her locked up because I realized that what was living behind that cow's eyes was purely and simply... evil.

"The Lost Boys"....Wonderful 80's vampire flick. Hip, scary, thrilling, funny, and gory!! Top notch cast led by the sexy and suave Jason Patric and Keifer Sutherland. Only mild cheesy thing is the fake "deep voice" acting Cory Feldman portrays in the film. Dont know what was with that. Terrific special effects, wonderful make up, great location spots and art direction, awesome music score, and fine ensemble acting all highlight the film. I grew up with this film and it is one of my alltime faves! Terrific!!

10/10

According to the Retrospective doc on the blu-ray, Schumacher instructed Feldman to watch a bunch of Sylvester Stallone action movies (specifically the then released first two RAMBO films) and Corey thought it'd be funny if his character would try to emanate John Rambo.
