"The Burning"...An early 80's slasher classic featuring some awesome makeup effects by splatter king Tom Savini. There are some wonderful kills featured in this film, the best being the "raft slaughter" scene. Directing is good, music score is well done, and there are a few nicely done suspense and shock scenes. However the cast is pretty mediocre and laughable in parts of the movie. The hunky Brian Matthews(Todd) and the charismatic Jason Alexander(Dave) are pretty much the standouts of the cast.

7/10

I really enjoyed this slasher-the raft scene a highlight. First saw it many years ago managed to get it on VHS copy and it had a big effect on me then saw it a few years ago and I still loved it. I'd watch it again and may do.

I love The Burning. I consider it to be one of my favourite slasher films. Who can forget the raft scene? I think it's one of the most frightening scenes in the history of the slasher film. Also, it's interesting because of Alfred and Todd during the last part of the film in place of the usual girl figure.
