T2 was one of those films that I felt that they could of ended there or continue with a sequel. Sarah & John Conner never went back to retrieved Uncle Bob's arm from the gear, and destroy it as far as I know.

Good point, but I feel as if the entire arm would have been rendered too destroyed to make any sense of. Because when you think about it, the entire Terminator from the first film is probably lying around somewhere in a scrap heap, but it's miserable state probably prevents any kind of reverse engineering. The only thing they could salvage was the partially destroyed microchip and the otherwise intact arm.

All the things they went through trying to prevent Judgement Day. Personally, I wouldn't leave anything to chance.

I don't really think they thought about it that much, as they didn't actually see Arnold loose his arm in the gears. They were too busy running for their lives at that point, and plus you could easily say they did look for it afterall and chucked it into the magma pool as well right after the credits rolled.
