i would like to see evil dead again in the theaters, but there's just too much coming out in the near future for me to see a movie twice (lords of salem, star trek, superman, iron man 3). just hafta wait for dvd...

Yes.

Spoiler Below
I was like, "What do you mean don't cut it?" WTF. I get it because dismembering is one of the ways to rid of the demons, but still WTF. And yeah I was waiting for the "We're going to get you....." line and it never came

I might watch it again this weekend.

It might not be getting release in theatres here. I couldn't give two fucks as I'm not overly pumped for it. I'll see it eventually. But a lot of people are kicking up a stink over it.

Gave this a watch last night and really enjoyed it.

I think it's definitely up there with The Ring, Dawn of the Dead and The Hills Have Eyes as a top remake, but falls short of being a great remake along the lines of The Thing and The Fly.

My only real gripe is that every single money shot, except the very last one, is in the red band trailer so there were no surprises when it came to the gore. Speaking of the gore I didn't find this any more violent than the Dawn remake. Yeah it's bloody but nothing I haven't seen before.

I liked the characters. They weren't the usual annoying cliches you usually see and there's just enough development and personality to give a shit about them. The good thing about this is that is has it's own story and that's where it succeeds. Save for a few nods here and there to the original it's its own beast, and what they came up with really works. I also like that they went the serious route and dropped the comedy. It's a grim film and I like that but I do prefer the grittiness of the original, which I still prefer but I think this is better than Dead by Dawn and shits all over Army of darkness.

For now I really enjoyed it but my mind will probably change once I see a proper copy.

"Evil Dead (2012).....Where to start? The locations/settings were great! The cabin and forest scenes added some terrific atmosphere to the film. I loved all the bloody gore too. The cast/characters range from mediocre to alright. I didnt like the story change between the brother(David) and sister(Mia) and the change in the sole surivivor at the end. All that violence and possession with "Mia", only to have her survive? Bullshit!! That change from the original does not gel with me. The music score is good for the most part, but they could have done without that annoying fire engine siren sound that occurred in the last 15 to 20 minutes of the film. The direction is good and makeup effects are also pretty solid.

6.5/10

Judging by what you said, this film deserved a better score from you.
