Joe R. Lansdale - He wrong foots you at just the right moment with something chilling also he can make you smirk at the most strangest things.
Clive Barker - for sheer scope of terrible epic beauty and imagination with his creations/concepts. He pretty much created an entire new distinctive universe. Doesn't sell out using traditional monsters from folk-lore but creates new ones of his own. H.P. Lovecraft - Say what you like about him being long winded and haughty. He changed the shape of horror. Cosmic Horror, bringing hopelessness and futility to the genre, you could'nt kill his creations with specialist instructions. You were just another ant, burning beneath the magnifying glass of gods. Classic Quote -"The world is indeed comic, but the joke is on mankind." nuff said!

i prefer lovecraft over poe
enjoy Stephen King; Clive Barker; Dan Simmons; Ray Bradbury is the greatest author I've ever read, unfortunately he rarely dabbles in the horror realm; Maberry is winning me over; I dig some of Koontz's work, and plenty of Michael Crichton's work. V.C. Andrews has a sickly incestuous mind. Robert Bloch is absolutely bad ass. Man, there are really so many.... |

H.P. Lovecraft, but I also like a lot of stuff from Clive Barker and Edgar Allan Poe.

Clive Barker is making a appearance at New Jersey's Monster Mania the weekend of Aug. 18th! Just thought I'd let you know.
