I think the one with Zemeckis has better acting, but the one in Amicus has better atmosphere. Both are very creepy, though.

Your's is an opinion I hold in high regard, so I think I will have to seek out Stagefright now, probably The Church too just to complete my Soavi collection.

Yeah Stagefright is great. Some really awesome and brutal kills. I love The Church too even more than Stagefright, but it's definitely more of an imagery and atmosphere based film rather than a completely coherent narrative.

Saw is not a slasher.

Anytime, my man. I think we definitely have very similar tastes as far as horror goes.

For me, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is hands down the best slasher film of all time.
I recently watched Midnight Meat Train and quite enjoyed that as well. It's hard to know where a film crosses the line from a horror flick with gory deaths, to a slasher - does anyone know what I mean? ETA: and where a film crosses the line from slasher to torture porn. There seems to be a violence spectrum, you know? I must get around to watching Black Christmas, I've heard so many good things about it. But I'd never actually heard of it until I joined this board a few weeks ago. Last edited by RosieRogue; 10-06-2011 at 03:46 PM. |
