"On March 10, 2010, Nolan confirmed his involvement with a sequel and gave some information regarding the story. The next Batman film will be Nolan's last and a conclusion to the story. Nolan says, "Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story . . . I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters. My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don’t go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That’s what we do.” Nolan has also confirmed that Jonathan Nolan is writing the script and that the villain of the film “won't be Mr. Freeze.”

So, Nolan is on board. This is fantastic news.

Good to hear, the hard thing is going to be making it as good as TDK. People are going to have very high hopes. Hopefully is will deliver.

Great news indeed. I was pretty bummed when he said he wasn't going to have anything to do with any sequel in the beginning. This is a pleasant turnaround.

Bring it. Can't wait for this. Hopefully they'll give it a solid enough ending so that there won't be any modern day Joel Shumacher popping up to piss all over what Nolan has done. I'm betting this one will be called The Caped Crusader.

With the way Nolan is talking, I wonder if they will kill off Batman? It sounds as though the characters are all wrapped up, and I don't think it would be very satisfying to see him just hang up the suit for good.

Now that is an interesting take. I don't know how I would react to seeing that. I guess it depends on how it went down. Something worth thinking about....

That's exactly what I was thinking. I think it would be different and good to see. Him either give up Batman, or sacrifice himself. It would stop any terrible spin offs.

This is great news. Nice to see Nolans confirmation.

Going by what he's said, to me it does sound like it's possible that they may be killing Batman off. I'd actually like to see that happen as i don't want to see some hack take over the world Nolan has created.

Glad to read Nolan is going to follow through and finish his series. It should be interesting to see who he picks for the Villain/Villains.
