Sinister (2012)

Quote:
Found footage helps a true-crime novelist realize how and why a family was murdered in his new home, though his discoveries put his entire family in the path of a supernatural entity.

In the cast we have people as capable as Ethan Hawke and Vincent D'Onofrio, and behind the scenes with Scott Derrickson, a guy who can direct movies as the correct Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) and shit like The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Looks like it has a similar feel to Insidious, which isn't a bad thing. Decent cast and a new boogeyman. We'll have to wait and see if it's any good though.

Could be a good one. But I doubt it will top the awesomeness of "Insidious".

More found footage? Good lord. I'm shocked that those who constantly rant about the glut of remakes and reimaginings are hopping on he bandwagon of every gimmicky (just as gimmicky as 3D) found footage film. It seems every week brings a new one so that a true cineaste can't enjoy a horror movie these days without suffering at least one shoehorned found-footage subplot. Ugh!

Just saw this on EP. I fucking hate these type of films, which a passion so great I'd sacrifice children to dodge watching one.

However this looks rather good, as ashamed to admit it as I am. I like how the Found Footage doesn't act as the film itself, but as an aspect in it. Maybe that's why I'm not against the idea so much, the 'ghost' like figure looks pretty bad ass too. Only time will tell if it's good, given my feelings on this type of genre my exceptions are pretty fucking low, so that'll hopefully work for it.

I don't get why people are complaining about how many terrible films are out there, and they aren't all mainstream. Some mainstream films are good, some are bad, and vice versa with underground horror. Arguably, it was much, much worse in the '80's when every movie tried to copy Halloween.

All in all, I think there have been a sufficient amount of good horror films released over the last few years, this being one of them.

Unfortunately, some may actually see the Saw franchise as a classic one, but I won't ever. I'm honestly still baffled as to how it even caught on in the first place. *shrugs

Sinister is easily one of the best horror movies of the last few years.

And the score by Christopher Young is prob the best and creepiest ever.
