Aliens: Colonial Marines official thread - BLOODY-DISGUSTING

the official site doesn't have a ton of info. I found out about this game from the latest ish of Game Informer.

essentially, it's a FPS where you're dealing with Aliens on an...err...alien world. it's set in the Aliens timeline, so significantly further in the future. Ripley is dead, and your team of Marines is out to investigate.

if I can find some pics, I'll post them. it isn't scheduled for release until 2009, but the screens already look brilliant and the xenomorphs look horrific (in a good way).

it will play out sort of like a squad shooter. it is being developed by Gearbox, who makes the Brothers in Arms games.

I'll post more info as it's released. as a horror fan, I'm excited as a pig in shit for this game. it looks amazing.

So fucking excited. The alien franchise is one of my only weaknesses, I have a blind devotion for it.

Though if this is after Ripley dies shouldn't all the Aliens be dead? They only came back in Resurection due to cloning. To be honest though (And I'm not making excuses for the franchise), I always thought Ripley thinking she was the last hope at destroying the race was just blindsighted on her part. Aliens with that sort of reproductive ability would be in various places all over the galaxy, it's impossible that the one she had in her chest in Alien3 was one of the last ones left. It's probably more likely that it was just the easier one for the company to get to.

update: Sega announced that this game will be out Q1 of 2009 (fiscal year), so it should be out sometime between March and June.
