Definitely hear their opinions, but make sure that you go after something that you truly enjoy. Otherwise, you'll just be doing something drab for a paycheck. If I wanted to make the big bucks, I wouldn't have gone into teaching (obviously). But it's a rewarding career that I enjoy.
