Bates Motel on A&E

Anyone watch it on A&E? I think the show is great well casted and shot nice. Cool prequel idea on the Psycho. I am hooked already. It is a cool angle thier version of the backstory of Norman Bates.

I've read some reviews and they are saying this is a superb show. I had doubts but I'd like to see this now.

I thought it was just ok, I love how they recreated both the motel and the house, they get major props on that but I dislike that it's set in modern day and I'm not completely sold on the cast so far. I'll give it an episode or two more to win me over

Just watched it. l thought it was a pretty decent premiere. Vera Farmiga is so frickin HOT. l think she'll be a good Ms. Bates, but l guess l might just have to warm up to the kid playing Norman. Going into it l wasn't happy about the modern day setting, but after watching it l'm alright with that aspect of it now. l'll definitely keep watching...

I totally agree Ms. Bates was a good cast.

I felt like the beginning kinda dragged on, but after the last 30 seconds or so I know I'll end up watching the entire season.

Finally got a chance to watch Bates Motel. It was good, but wasn't blown away by it, still a good turn on the original story.

Is it just me or does this story have a 1970's feel to it? I have to constantly remind myself that the story takes place in 2013 ;)

I thought the first episode was solid. I love that they've recreated the iconic house and motel. I wasn't expecting that at all so this will please Psycho fans.

I didn't think this story would work in a modern setting, but it does. Vera Farmiga wastes not time in showing how domineering and crazy she is as Mrs Bates, and Freddy Highmore is great as Norman. He brings new shades to an old character. They've set up future plots with this episode and I can't wait to see where it all goes.

The house and the motel look great. l don't think l could have gotten on board with this if they looked any different than in the films.

l actually thought they might ease into the killings, but lo and behold we get corpses and bloody carpets in the very first episode. l suspect Norma and Norman might just be making regular boat trips at night for a while.

I'm ready for episode 2, dammit!

Pretty good first episode. Vera is great as Norma and the kid who plays Norman is quite impressive. Many of his mannerisms reminded me of Anthony Perkins.

Little disappointed that it's set in present day...mostly because the show itself has a very 60's feeling.

I will stay tuned for the next eps.

Yeah, I think that was a mistake. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it just seems off, because of it being a prequel to a film set in the 60's.

I liked it for the most part. Vera, as you said, is great so far, and the kid who plays Norman fits the bill. I thought some things seemed a little forced though. Mainly Norman's animal magnatism to hot chicks. He's some new loner kid, who is a bit socially awkward, and he immediately has four smokin' hot ladies surround him on a park bench? Yeah right.

Other than that though, pretty good. Looks like A&E won't be affraid to wander into some dark territories with the show, as well.
