I got as far as King Kunta and stopped. This is definitely a project I need to take in with the right state of mind.

Will 100% listen in full by this Saturday.

    Haha for sure

I'll give it a go tonight. Shouldn't have to be high to appreciate good music.

    Thanks bro

But I had the album within minutes of it dropping on iTunes. The benefit of album hype threads on an active board.

I was just thinking it would be better to listen high for the first time. If it truly is that good I want the first listen to be memorable, you know?

Agreed. If Biggie is considered one of the best after two great albums, I can see Kenny being right there with three. If he died tomorrow he would be a legend. Just look at all these celebrities tweeting about the album lol.

Fuck, might just give in and listen tonight... getting too excited lol

    Awesome, glad you're loving it.

Have literally not heard a bad thing about it yet. Some have reacted more mildly, but the consensus seems to be that it's an extraordinary work. I've only heard The Blacker the Berry and the single version of i once (I hear they use the SNL version for the album) so I'm pretty much going in blind. This is the most hype I've been for a rap album in a long time, and the first I'm going to purchase in a long time too.

Will let you know how I feel when I listen.

Just looking at other boards reading people's reactions on a tolerance break and I want to listen in the right mindset. Hopefully in the next few days.

Likewise! It has me seeking out the source material and planning multiple re-watches. Something to be said for that.

Have said it a few times, but maybe there is something to the book being an integral part in understanding it. Have seen nothing but love from those who have read it.

Obv when making an adaption you got to appeal to those who haven't read it, but I'm not quite ready to attack it for being loose and messy (which it 100% is) just yet. PTA is far too good of a filmmaker to have a film be that disjointed unintentionally.
