Sure it's depressing but you have to realize this is the reality that is built around people. People get so caught up in their world and become so fully a part of their culture that they completely exist in it. When you take a step back that's when you can see how meaningless most things we care about are. I firmly believe we create our own purpose in life and there is no inherent right or wrong. Still, living that way completely in almost impossible... You have to be a part of some sort of culture to have any motivation at all. I think somebody caring so much about how many likes they get in Facebook is just the same as people who passionately stand for "american" ideologies (patriotism) or any other nationalist standard. In their worlds they are completely valid... How do you really prove otherwise? Gotta understand people instead of judge them. Shits almost impossible and confusing. Really gotta head out though. Of course... Just because you want a heightened understanding of the world doesn't mean we shouldn't be active participants in it. We all have a web of relationships and emotions that fuels is through life... Makes us human. I definitely want to be successful enough to be fruitful and help myself and those I care about. I'm glad you think the same way.

I'm not as concerned about my career as I am with understanding the world around me. Having a job and shit helps because of the society we live in demands it in order to function properly. Just saying. Gonna watch a film now.

Pretty much. the ultimate goal is to 100% understand culture. Basically being able to step out of your own shoes and completely exist as an "other". I don't think its possible to ever truly 100% understand a different culture but trying certainly helps us understand our entire species place in the world if we can understand how and why people are so different everywhere.

The main focuses in anthropology are evolution and theory (as to why culture exists, how it exists, and why there is diversity). It's fascinating shit my friend.

I think any job where you work directly with people has its benefits if you studied anthro. But if you want a specific career path pertaining entirely to the field... It's probably one of the worst majors that exists. Real encouraging but honestly my time studying it in college and continuing to apply it in my daily life and independent research is the greatest decision I ever made.

Anthropology will open your mind to literally every possible state of mind and understanding that has or ever will existed. If more people studied it and strove to understand others through it's lense the world would be a much, much better place.

Ultimately it's the study of humanity. The most common definition is "the study of humans, past and present. To understand the full sweep and complexity of cultures across all of human history, anthropology draws and builds upon knowledge from the social and biological sciences as well as the humanities and physical sciences"

    Get some in your brain.
