Black Friday Horror Shopping List: VIDEO GAMES

More Black Christmas Lists: Games / Toys / Movies & Music / Comics & Books

LEFT 4 DEAD (Xbox 360)

Left 4 Dead puts four human playable or AI controlled survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic against hordes of aggressive "Infected" zombies in a cinematic backdrop in which the players star as each character in a fictional movie. The Survivors' goal is to help each other make it through various scenarios to safety. The Infected are controlled by an AI that dynamically balances difficulty and mood depending on the players' progress and situation. In an alternate game mode, human players can control up to four different monsters with special abilities and cooperate to stop the Survivor players. While the graphics aren't top notch, and the game is relatively short, Dead is a great game suited for Xbox Live where you can play online with four friends. Would your friends survive a zombie attack? Work together and maybe you will all make it...

DEAD SPACE (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

Dead Space is a third-person survival horror-action video game, developed by EA Redwood Shores for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. The player takes on the role of an engineer named Isaac Clarke, who battles a polymorphic, virus-like, alien infestation called the 'Corruption', which turns humans into grotesque alien monsters called 'Necromorphs', on board a stricken interstellar mining ship. The game features incredible mind-blowing graphics and nearly 12-hours of game play. Although the story isn't all that original, if you ever dreamed of playing "Event Horizon" the game, this is your chance. New download just became available, so ask for some extra points for your Xbox as a stocking stuffer.

ALONE IN THE DARK: INFERNO (PS3)

Inferno is the recent PS3 release of the new Alone in the Dark game, which features several enhancements from the other versions. Many say that is was worth the way for the PS3 because a lot of the problems for the other platforms were resolved. It addresses a number of gameplay issues found in the Xbox 360 version, such as the additions of full 360° camera control, a more zoomed-out third-person camera view, a more user-friendly inventory system and tighter driving mechanics. It will also include an exclusive new gameplay sequence found in Episode 6. Set during 2008, the story continues with Edward Carnby, the main protagonist from the original game, looking for answers to strange supernatural and bizarre occurrences while battling his way through the opposition in New York City's Central Park.

CASTLEVANIA: ORDER OF ECCLESIA (Nintendo DS)

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, known in Japan as Akumajō Dracula Ubawareta Kokuin ("Devil's Castle Dracula: The Stolen Seal"), is the third Nintendo DS installment of the Castlevania franchise, developed by longtime Castlevania developer Koji Igarashi. It is regarded as critics as THE best Castlevania game ever created.

SILENT HILL HOMECOMING (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

Silent Hill Homecoming is the sixth installment in the Silent Hill survival horror video game series. This entry in the horror series follows the journey of protagonist Alex Shepherd, a soldier returning from war, to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen, where he finds the town in disarray, and his younger brother missing. As he continues on his search to find his younger brother, he discovers more about the Order — the cult of Silent Hill — as well as the town's history, and his own past. The word on this game hasn't been all too positive, but it is a new Silent Hill game. If I was a spoiled little kid with 20 family members, I'd find a way to include this in my must have list.
