The film follows the plight of four college students who, while exploring the Ozark Mountains for a midterm assignment on rural America, come face to face with a community of cave-dwelling redneck genetic mutations.
BD: How did you end up joining the cast of Albino Farm?
BB: Head makeup artist/creature creator Jason Barnett of IMP FX (www.impfx.com) suggested me. The directors were seeking an actress comfortable with wearing the extensive prosthetics and physically capable of all the stunts involved. It was a three to four hour process to transform into a monster everyday and most of my scenes involved fighting, running, screaming and crawling about in caves. It was easily my most challenging and rewarding role yet.
BD: What’s the film about?
BB: Four adventurous college students are exploring the Ozarks when they stumble upon the eerie legend of the Albino Farm. They are intrigued to whether it is merely a tale to dupe tourists out of cash or if it really is based on fact. It all seems like fun and games until they stumble upon US…
BD: Who do you play?
BB: I play the head villain- a hormonally charged, hay hook-wielding creature dead set on wreaking havoc and spilling copious amounts of blood! No one is safe when I’m on the loose! (Cue maniacal laughter!)
BD: Did you get to work with Chris Jericho? How was it?
BB: Chris was very humble and nice to everyone on set. He was more than willing to completely transform himself into his character, Levi. I think that his fans will be shocked and pleasantly surprised by his performance and appearance! He’s definitely a scene-stealer!
BD: Any fun stories from the set?
BB: Well, on the last night of shooting Jason Barnett and I almost got struck by lightening! We were walking back from the caves to the trailer in this torrential downpour and then- CRASH!!! (Just to let you know, I was in full prosthetic makeup- a five-pound animatronic “helmet” which obstructed my vision and breathing and was soaked in “blood”.) All I could think was, “How ridiculous would it be if THIS is how I went??” And I pictured the ambulance arriving on the scene with me being wheeled away in full gory, creature gear! Now THAT’S a way to go!
BD: How violent/bloody is the film?
BB: Let’s just say, I’ve got a hay hook and I am not afraid to use it! The finale of the movie was shot on location in the Fantastic Caverns which should now be renamed Blood Drenched Caverns! I did my own stunts and actually had a fight scene that was a blast to shoot. I’d love to do more of that in the future.
BD: How would you compare this to other mutant, inbred monster movies?
BB: I believe the fact that the picture is based on actual Missouri folklore is going to make this a standout. The legend of the Albino Farm is well known throughout the Ozarks and shooting on location made things even creepier. Also, it was a big plus to have the main antagonist a female monster. The phrase “fairer sex” does not apply to Albino Farm!
BD: What was the coolest thing about this film to you?
BB: Definitely filming on location since any excuse to travel outside of Los Angeles is exciting. The rain, the beautiful countryside, and the friendly and unique locals- I loved it all! And as challenging as everything was, I loved working with Jason Barnett. We’re hoping to collaborate on more films in the future. He already has so many ideas and scripts that we’re ready to begin work on. We have such sights to show you…
BD: What’s next? More horror?
BB: Horror will always have its clutches on my black heart! Acting is what makes me happiest, so anytime I’m working on a new project I’m usually glowing. I am also feverishly working on my new website, www.biancabarnett.com, which showcases my modeling portfolio, acting resume and has merchandise. Anyone interested in covering me with blood and shooting me can find out more there. Horror conventions and signings are also something I would like to start participating in. I grew up idolizing all the famous monsters and feel thrilled that I am living out my dreams and pursuing a career in this genre! Hopefully you all will be seeing more of me in the future…
