8 Page Preview of Asylum Press’ Sexy Fearless Dawn!

Published

With the mass amounts of comics out there these days it’s not hard to look over certain titles when they are starting out. Unfortunately this means that it is hard for certain stories to go as far as they deserve to while they end up fading into obscurity (here’s looking at you “SIMON DARK”) if not for the few true believers who were lucky enough to have come across them when they were first released. One such title is Asylum Press’s “FEARLESS DAWN”, which was on the verge of just that. Thankfully that didn’t happen, and now the folks at Asylum are back with the 3rd installment into the series, and beyond the break you can find the first 8 hilarious (and sexy) pages!

(Los Angeles) Frank Forte, publisher of Asylum Press, has announced the release of aN 8 page preview of the tongue in cheek pulp book Fearless Dawn #3. The synopsis of issue #3 can be described as this: “Flying back from the Manitoba mission, our heroes have some time to kill. And what better way to kill time than tell a couple of stories! Artist Steve Mannion dazzles us with a daring look BACK in this funny-book campfire classic! Join us now as Fearless Dawn and Betty tell the tale of the “CASE OF THE GIANT FROG!!!” Join us now as Steve Mannion’s beautifully rendered comic book tale unfolds in full-color glory! Fan’s of Steve Mannion’s The Bomb will love this new action-packed series.

“Back in February’s PREVIEWS there was a book from Asylum Press called Fearless Dawn that went largely unnoticed by fans and retailers. The entire industry went on rolling without giving it a second glance, and like many small press books it nearly slipped into obscurity without reaching the core readers in our hobby. But when a copy of it made its way across my desk, I knew from first glance it was something special that people needed to see” commented Jim Kuhoric of Diamond Comics Distributors.

“I am excited to bring Fearless dawn to a full-color series,” says creator Steve Mannion,” this is a dream project and I’m having a blast.” “We’ll be updating the website and blog on a regular basis so fans can see pencil to ink pages, colors, thumbnails and interact with Steve,” says publisher Frank Forte.

“Steve Mannion is one of the most underrated artists in comics. Part Dave Stevens, part Wally Wood his art encapsulates everything I love about comic books,” says Rick Remender (Punisher, Fear Agent)

“FEARLESS DAWN” #3 is set to release this March with the fourth installment slated for a June release.

IDW Dark and Paramount recently joined forces to launch limited comic book tales set in the worlds of Smile and A Quiet Place, and we’ve learned today that they’ll continue hanging around in those franchise universes with two brand new limited series tales.

Entertainment Weekly has exclusively revealed this afternoon that IDW Dark’s Any Given Smile debuts in September, while A Quiet Place: Rising Tides arrives in November.

First up, from writer Stephanie Williams and artist Pablo CollarAny Given Smile puts a football-themed twist on Parker Finn’s successful Smile movie franchise.

The five-part limited series is “set in January 1995, during the American Arena League football championship game in St. Augustine, Florida. The rising superstar of the Sharks, backup quarterback Dupree, is feeling the pressure from his teammates, the fans, and also the city’s gambling underworld, to whom he owes a considerable debt. Meanwhile, a sports journalist investigates a string of suicides that may be connected to the big game. At the very least, they are connected to a sinister entity that preys on the minds of its victims.”

From writer Declan Shalvey and artist Luke SparrowA Quiet Place: Rising Tides will also be a five-issue limited story. The comic book tale “brings the creatures to the Florida Keys, where a father-daughter duo attempt to survive on water in a houseboat.”

EW further details, “This tense family reunion coincides with the arrival of the vicious creatures that hunt through sound. Grace and her dad find safety on the open ocean, but she’ll have to make landfall sooner or later; the father’s oxygen tank and their supplies are running low, while a hurricane swiftly approaches.”
