TIFF ’11: The Amazing Looking ‘You’re Next’ Likely To Be One Of The Next Fest Buys!
I absolutely can’t wait to see You’re Next . Everything I’ve seen and heard indicates I would have a total blast with the movie. And now it seems I might not have to wait very long at all to see it!
Per The Hollywood Reporter, “The horror thriller directed by Adam Wingard had its Toronto premiere Saturday night, playing before a crowd that at times pressed against the seats in suspense, tensely gripped handles, laughed, and cheered when someone bit the dust in a magnificent fashion… But the real action took place in the lobby and outside the doors of the Ryerson Theatre, where Lionsgate executives, including chief Joe Drake, huddled on one side, while Summit’s Erik Feig paced like a tiger on the other. Weinstein Co. and CBS Films execs were seen on phones, and this being at 2:30 AM, they likely weren’t calling their buddies. The buyer interest in the movies wasn’t just high, it bordered on salivation.”
Producer Keith Calder has a way of summing up the movie that totally sells me, “[it reminds me of] Home Alone as a horror movie.”
A Horrible Way to Die director Adam Wingard with writer Simon Barrett (Dead Birds, Red Sands) bring you the film in which “the Davison family comes under attack from a terrifying group of sadistic murderers during a family reunion getaway. Barricaded in their secluded vacation home, they fight off a barrage of axes, crossbows and machetes from both inside and outside the house. However, the masked killers didn’t count on Erin (Vinson), the young girlfriend of the eldest Davison son whose mysterious past has made her very difficult to kill.”

Keanu Reeves Describes Untitled Time Loop Thriller from Director Tim Miller as ‘Groundhog Day’ With Sharks
At one point known as Shiver, Tim Miller‘s (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) next movie doesn’t yet have a title, but star Keanu Reeves offers a very intriguing tease this week.
Chatting with Collider, Reeves explains what drew him to the mysterious upcoming project from director Tim Miller. He tells the outlet, “Sharks. Time machine. Groundhog Day.”
That lines up with early plot details that surfaced earlier this year, with the film said to center on a “smuggler in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea.”
That synopsis continued, “Surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and bloodthirsty sharks, the man finds himself in a time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.”
Callie Cooke (“The Stranger”), Stefan Kapičić (Deadpool), Steven Waddington (Sleepy Hollow), Nicholas Duvernay (“The White Lotus”), Abraham Popoola (Cruella), Anastasia Safonov, and Bobby Holland Hanton (Thor: Love and Thunder) also star.
Ian Shorr (Splinter, Infinite) penned the screenplay for the sci-fi thriller, which had previously been described as having shades of Edge of Tomorrow and The Shallows.
Stay tuned for more on the untitled Warner Bros. project.
