AFM '09: 'Toxic Avenger 5: The Toxic Twins' Promo Art
Posted: November 4, 2009 @ 4:09pm

Short but sweet news from the AFM as we scored a look at the promo poster art for Troma's The Toxic Avenger 5: The Toxic Twins (teased in the finale of IV), which also confirms that it will once again be helmed by Lloyd Kaufman. The original 1986 film told the story of Melvin, the Tromaville Health Club mop boy, who inadvertently and naively trusts the hedonistic, contemptuous and vain health club members, to the point of accidentally ending up in a vat of toxic waste. The devastating results then have a transmogrification effect, his alter ego is released, and the Toxic Avenger is born, to deadly and comical results. The local mop boy is now the local Superhero, the saviour of corruption, thuggish bullies and indifference. Troma classic with good make-up effects and stunts, a pleasant surprise indeed. ...Read More

The Berlin-based female vampire drama being produced by Celluloid Dreams (Inside) stars Karoline Herfurth, Nina Hoss, Jennifer Ulrich, Anna Fischer and Max Riemelt. Here's the plot crunch: When Lena is bitten by the leader of a female vampire trio, she instantly succumbs to her newfound lifestyle but the blood lust of her comrades ultimately proves too much for her to take. In love with an undercover cop, Lena decides to turn her back on the bloodsuckers igniting their fury. The film was written by Gansel and Jan Berger and is produced by Christian Becker.
