EXCLUSIVE Clarissa Explains 'Nine Dead People'

Camera and Electrical pro Chris Shadley (Cloverfield, The Midnight Meat Train) is gearing up to direct his first feature film entitled NINE DEAD, which stars Melissa Joan Hart (Clarissa Explains It All). From a screenplay by Patrick Wehe Mahoney, nine people, seemingly picked at random, find themselves locked together in a heavily fortified basement, chained to poles and told at gunpoint to figure out why they are here, or face certain death. In ten minute intervals, one among them is unceremoniously gunned down by the Shooter, whose need for revenge has taken the form of twisted ritualism...

Swiss Short Film 'Dead Bones' Wraps

Today we caught wind of a new 15-minute short film entitled DEAD BONES, which tells the story of a bounty hunter and his prey as they proceed in unknown territory. Principal photography on this swiss production wrapped recently in Almería, Spain and Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Produced and Directed by the swiss Olivier Beguin, the film stars Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead) and Arie Verveen (Cabin Fever, Sin City), with a cameo by CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST director Ruggero Deodato. Although the short is yet to hit the web, if you head over to the official website you can check out stills, behind-the-scenes videos and more. Watch for the short soon enough.

New Trailer For 'Midnight Movie'

If you head on over to the official website for MIDNIGHT MOVIE, you can check out yet another trailer for the film, which was directed by Jack Messitt. A midnight showing of an early 1970's horror movie turns to chaos when the Killer from the movie comes out of the film to attack those in the theater. Daniel Bonjour, Michael Swan, Arthur Roberts, Dinora Walcott, Rebekah Brandes, Ashley Black, Michael Schwartz, Kathryn Aagesen and Greg Cirulnick all star in this indie film.

Three Students Get 'Suspended' in New Indie Pic

This morning we caught wind of a new little indie film entitled SUSPENDED, which now has an official website loaded with stills and a first look trailer. Directed by Wilfried Meance and written by Romain Combes, the film follows three childhood friends who set off together to spend New Year's Eve in a chalet. But after going off the road they find themselves dangling off a cliffside. They're left hanging in thin air. Will they survive?

Dead End Retitled to 'Deep Cove'

Michael Storey's DEAD END has officially been retitled to DEEP COVE as it has begin casting for its upcoming shoot. The film is about five students on spring break meet at a secluded island cabin for a weekend getaway. After a night of music, drinking and getting re-acquainted, the five friends are shocked to find the cabin's caretaker murdered and the only boat off the island gone. Stranded on the island they become the prey of a mysterious killer who seems bent on revenge for something the friends have done. They must defend themselves and find their tormentor or face death one by one. More details soon.

'Carver' Sequel, 'Graven Image' Announced

Hollywood producer Richard Finney (Carver, The 8th Plague) has purchased the film rights to Ray Garton’s irreverent religious horror novella GRAVEN IMAGE, we're told in a press release. Finney will work with his director of development, Dean Loftis, and author Garton to expand the novella’s premise into a film franchise with plans to shoot the first in the series by the end of 2008. Jeffrey Combs Wraps Lovecraft Adaptation 'The Darkest Evil'

Jeffrey Combs wrapped Tuesday his latest film, THE DARKEST EVIL, which is a modern retelling of H.P. Lovecraft’s classic tale, “The Dunwich Horror,” according to the official website. The film tells the story of several scholars headed by Henry Armitage (Dean Stockwell) who discover the secret to destroying mysterious, other-worldly beings that threaten humankind. Jeff plays Wilbur Whateley, part of a strange, inbred family that helps unleash these beings on the world. Griff Furst and Sarah Lieving round out the cast as two characters that battle against the villainous Whateley clan.

It has been a long ride, but it's nice to see that the final product looks so damn promising. If you haven't checked out the Thai horror film Shutter yet, you really should add it to your rental queue wherever that may be, it's one of the best Asian horror films made during the craze of ghosts with long black hair. Today Twitch Film caught wind of their next project, 4BIA, which features Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom each directing a segment in a four part Thai horror anthology. Each entry is meant to key in on a different fear and for their parts Pisanthanakun tells a campfire haunting tale while Wongpoom looks more compelling, with the story of a stewardess required to be the sole escort of the body of a dead Thai princess on a flight home. Ex-Porn Stars Hit Halloweentown in 'Breadcrumbs'

Director Mike Nichols - NOT the Oscar winning one - has been quietly seeing actors in New York for a new feature film slated to be shot in the Hamptons. The movie is titled BREADCRUMBS and will feature a cast of teens and 20-somethings. Not too much on the details of the script, but the website reports that two of the leads play former porn stars trying to come to grips with life. Dark Horizons, who discovered the news, reports that the film is said to be horror film along the likes of "Halloween" and "Children of the Corn" and will feature a cast of teens and 20-somethings.
