Beyond the break you'll find a new video interview that we're extremely excited about. FX legend Rick Baker talked exclusively to BD's Chris Eggertsen about Universal Pictures The Wolfman redo, which arrives in theaters this Friday, along with how the original Wolf Man film inspired him and star Benicio del Toro, keeping the look true to original, and how he was very nervous about the CG enhancement (the transformation is entirely CGI) in the redo. Watch this spot for more in the coming week. Upon his return to his ancestral homeland, an American man (Del Toro) is bitten, and subsequently cursed by, a werewolf. ...Read More
Various sources are reporting that Penelope Cruz could be toplining Danish auteur Lars von Trier's (Antichrist) psychological drama-cum-disaster film, Melancholia. Budgeted at around E5 million ($7 million), English-lingo film is set for a European 2010 shoot. The title refers to Planet Melancholia, an enormous planet illustrated on the press release that looms threateningly close to Earth. "No more happy endings!" commented Lars von Trier, who will direct from his own screenplay. "As a disaster movie, 'Melancholia' will use some special effects, but nothing compared to Hollywood," exclaims Zentropa Entertainment co-founder Peter Aalbaek Jensen. ...Read More
The future has been saved -- for now. Last week it was reported that both Sony and Lionsgate were in a heated bidding war to score the rights to Terminator, with newly revealed plans to reboot the franchise (oh come on!). Thankfully, they both lost out when "Halcyon Holding Corp accepted the $29.5 million bid from, of all parties, the debtholder which pushed it [the franchise] into bankruptcy, Santa Barbara-based hedge fund Pacificor. (This is the same Pacificor whom Halcyon accused in a lawsuit of extortion, bribery, and fraud and demanded $30M in damages.)," reports Deadline. My favorite part of the article states: "I'm told, prompted a furious Sony Pictures Entertainment's president of worldwide affairs Peter Schlessel to "storm out" of the Downtown LA offices of FTI Capital Advisors holding the auction." I'd be pissed too! Hopefully this will at least keep the franchise from being rebooted -- but we all know that it's inevitable and will be in 3-D. ...Read More

Jim Sheridan is directing from a David Loucka script. The story centers on a successful publisher (Craig) who quits his Gotham job and relocates his wife (Weisz) and two daughters to a quaint New England town, only to discover that their perfect new home was the murder scene of a mother and her two children. Watts will play a neighbor who was close to the slain family. Lensing began Sunday in Toronto. ...Read More
The Playlist is reporting that Steven Soderbergh (Ocena's Eleven, The Informant!) has delayed all projects in order to fast-track Contagion. The plague thriller penned by Scott Z. Ah, nothing like a ridiculous rumor to end the night. Even if proven true, I can't help by grit my teeth together in distain. Cinema Blend is reporting that Universal Pictures may be planning a remake of the 1975 Spielberg classic Jaws, a rumor that's appeared pretty much every year since the beginning of the internet. The only thing that makes me think it's more likely is the newly found love for 3-D. Jaws in 3-D? How can you say no to that? Jaws in 3-D starring Tracy Morgan? That's how. Cinema Blend's "insider says Tracy Morgan was at one point being considered for the part of Matt Hooper, previously played by Richard Dreyfuss." It's not a matter of IF they'll remake Jaws, it's only a matter of WHEN. At least do it right. Thank God this is a rumor. ...Read More
I received quite a few e-mails from readers asking when they'll get a chance to see Adam Green's chiller Frozen in a theater near them. The answer? I dunno. Well, at least until now. Below you can read the offiical release sent to us with information on how YOU can demand it. ...Read More

I didn't really have a pulse on Simon (The Living and the Dead) Rumley's forthcoming genre-blender Red White & Blue until now. I'm a pretty big fan of Mr. Rumley, and I dig the cast (Noah Taylor, Amanda Fuller, Marc Senter), but until now all we had was the following brief synopsis: "The gruesome shadow side of the kindness of strangers. An initially natural portrait of the cool and promiscuous Erica from Austin turns into an intense film of revenge." Now, beyond the break you'll find the first teaser trailer that delivers the goods. Those of you living in Austin, TX can catch the premiere at the SXSW Film Festival this March. You're freakin' lucky. ...Read More
