Greatest Stephen King Adaption?

Post by pwolfe » Sat Aug 26, 2017 1:33 pm

First post here! Stephen King is my favorite author of all time and I own every single one of his 60-something books. Just curious as to what you guys think are the best Stephen King adaptions? I guess "best Stephen King adaption" is truly subjective. I guess I'm looking for two answers!
1. Which Stephen King adaption is the scariest to you?
2. Which Stephen King adaption is the most faithful to the novel/short story?

1. Pet Sematary

2. Hmm, not sure, I'd say either Pet Sematary, Christine, or Carrie, all are quite close without being overly adapted away from the books

I think a flick that always gets forgotten in this conversation, and is criminally underrated, is "Delores Claiborne". Excellent movie.

Shawshank Redemption is unquestionably the best adaptation of his work though.

As far as his horror stuff goes, I'm not sure. The Shining is great, but it's hard to call it a straight adaptation.

It's an adaption by definition so The Shining.

Stand By Me was really good but not horror.

Maybe the Shining? Even though it was different than the book, I found it a lot creepier than the one they made that was more faithful to it.
