New Line and director James Wan (Insidious, Saw) are rounding out the cast of horror pic The Warren Files, signing up Hayley McFarland (“Lie to Me,” “An American Crime”) and Shanley Caswell (Detention) to play members of the family beset by a haunted house, reports Variety.

Mackenzie Foy and Joey King have already been tapped to play the younger sisters in the true-life Perron family. McFarland and Caswell will portray the oldest siblings.

The Perrons claimed they “lived among the dead” in the 1970s as spirits — both friendly and sinister — inhabited their Rhode Island farmhouse. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are playing the investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Lilli Taylor and Ron Livingston will portray the Perrons.

Peter Safran and Tony DeRosa-Grund will produce The Warren Files — formerly titled The Conjuring — through the Safran Co. and DeRosa-Grund’s Evergreen Media Group. Rob Cowan will also produce. Wan is directing from a script by Chad and Carey Hayes with shooting scheduled to start February 21 in North Carolina. Hayley McFarland

Anyone remember The Breed? Released in 2006, the Nicholas Mastandrea-directed killer dog movie is notable for being produced by the late Wes Craven, though it’s been largely forgotten in the many years since its release. Almost 20 years later, The Breed gets a remake!

Variety reports this week that Grace Caroline Currey (Fall) will star in the upcoming remake of The Breed, which will be directed by filmmaking brothers Sean and Bryan Furst.

The remake is described as “an unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic,” though again the original movie wasn’t directed by Craven and isn’t quite a cult classic.

In any event, Curmudgeon Films will be producing The Breed. In the new take on the 2006 horror movie, “Violet [Grace Caroline Currey] is a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror.”

The original movie was loaded with familiar faces, including Michelle Rodriguez, Taryn Manning, and Oliver Hudson. You can watch the original trailer for the 2006 movie down below.
