Godzilla and King Kong bring their latest fight home this week, and they’ll be joined by a new Tubi Original slasher, a wide release for an A24 hit, and the return of The Strangers to theaters.

A box office powerhouse, director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has raked in $558 million at the worldwide box office since its debut in theaters back in March, and you can now rent or own the film on Digital at home beginning today, May 14.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sees the legendary Titans Godzilla and Kong team up to face a world-ending threat so terrifying that neither of them could survive it alone.

Meagan wrote in her review of the new movie for Bloody Disgusting, “Wingard continues the kaiju spectacle with the latest Legendary Monsterverse crossover event, this time injecting an even greater sense of adventure and silliness. It’s the type of epic-sized popcorn movie that unleashes nonstop monster brawls and tongue-in-cheek humor in equal measure.”

Rebecca Hall is back as Dr. Ilene Andrews with Brian Tyree Henry also returning as Bernie Hayes, and they’re joined in Godzilla x Kong by Dan Stevens (The Guest, Abigail).

Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs. Kong) directed Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which features a screenplay by Terry Rossio (Godzilla vs. Kong, Pirates of the Caribbean) and Simon Barrett (You’re Next) and Jeremy Slater (“Moon Knight”), story by Rossio & Wingard & Barrett.

“This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

Inspired by a true story, Silence of the Prey follows an undocumented immigrant mother who takes a caretaker job for an elderly man, only to discover a horrifying truth.

The film marks the directorial debut of Karyna Kudzina, who co-directed with Michael Vaynberg. It’s now available on VOD outlets from The Horror Collective.

In Silence of the Prey, “In a desperate bid to secure a future for her child, an undocumented immigrant mother takes a caretaker job. Unbeknownst to her, the elderly man conceals a horrifying truth – she’s the next item on the menu.” Monte Bezell, Michael Doyle, Lorianna Izrailova, Karyna Kudzina, Chris LaPanta, and Rebecca Packer star.

The first film in a reboot trilogy from director Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Master, Deep Blue Sea), The Strangers: Chapter 1 hits theaters this Friday.

Madelaine Petsch (“Riverdale”), Froy Gutierrez (Hocus Pocus 2), Rachel Shenton (The Silent Child), Ema Horvath (“Rings of Power”) and Gabe Basso (Hillbilly Elegy) star.

Based on the original 2008 cult horror franchise, the project features Petsch, who drives cross-country with her longtime boyfriend (Gutierrez) to begin a new life in the Pacific Northwest. When their car breaks down in Venus, Oregon, they’re forced to spend the night in a secluded Airbnb, where they are terrorized from dusk till dawn by three masked strangers.

Here’s the full official synopsis: “After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive.”

Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea, Die Hard 2) is directing from a script by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland (The Freak Brothers, Due Date). Lionsgate will distribute worldwide.

Fresh off the haunting and singularly creepy indie We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, Jane Schoenbrun is back with A24‘s I Saw the TV Glow, which hit limited theaters May 3.

The horror movie gets a wide theatrical release beginning this Friday, May 17.

In I Saw the TV Glow, “Owen is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate introduces him to a mysterious TV show — a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack.”

Justice Smith (Jurassic World Dominion) and Brigette Lundy-Paine (Bill & Ted Face the Music, Bombshell) lead the cast of the upcoming horror movie.

The free streaming service Tubi has been impressing us with some of their Tubi Original horror movies this year, and another brand new one is headed our way later this week.

Killer Body Count slashes into Tubi on Friday, May 17.

In the Tubi slasher, “Mistaken for a sex addict by her devout father, Cami is sent to an isolated rehab center. But when a killer begins to hunt the teens, Cami realizes that her survival and her independence are intertwined in ways she could never imagine.”

The cast for Killer Body Count includes Cassiel Eatock-Winnik as Cami George, Savana Tardieu as Wyatt, Khosi Ngema as Ali, N’kone Mametja as Mia, Alex McGregor as Tawny, Bjorn Steinbach as Eugene, and Jessie Diepeveen as Bree.

The 1994 Danish thriller Nightwatch gets a brand new sequel with Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever, and original Nightwatch star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau leads the cast.

Look for Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever to hit Shudder on Friday, May 17.

Original cast members Kim Bodnia and Ulf Pilgaard also reunite and reprise their roles from the 1994 film, which inspired the 1997 U.S. remake starring Ewan McGregor.

In the upcoming sequel, “22-year-old medical student Emma (Fanny Leander Bornedal) has just taken a job as the night watch in the same forensic department where her parents were once almost killed by the famed psychopathic police inspector Wörmer. The events led to her mother’s suicide, and her father Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) has turned to tranquilizers to suppress the memories. Determined to investigate what exactly happened to them, Emma tracks down and confronts Wörmer, only to unintentionally reawaken his bloodthirst and ignite a violent revenge on everyone who sealed his destiny years ago.”

The sequel was written/directed by Nightwatch‘s creator, Ole Bornedal.

Original Terrifier star Jenna Kanell holds a mirror up to the industry in meta horror movie Faceless After Dark, which she co-wrote with Todd Jacobs for director Raymond Wood.

Faceless After Dark will be available on VOD outlets at home this Friday.
