The danger: if Maya dies in the killers brain, she dies in real life!

TEX SAYS: A “so bad…it’s bad” psuedo-sequel to the original film with poor performances and even worse special effects!

FRIDAY THE 13TH – 2009 – (Blu-ray): Warner

A group of young adults discover a boarded up Camp Crystal Lake, where they soon encounter Jason Voorhees and his deadly intentions.

TEX SAYS: I think you all know by now that I hated the re-boot of Friday the 13th. That said, I will definitely be checking out the extended cut of the film, featuring an extra 10-minutes of fun…I mean…it can make the flick any worse right?

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 (Blu-ray): Paramount

Now on Blu-Ray – Mrs. Voorhees is dead, and Camp Crystal Lake is shut down, but a camp next to the infamous place is stalked by an unknown assailant. Is it Mrs. Voorhees’ son Jason who didn’t drown in the lake some 30 years before?

HYDRA: First Look

Wealthy men have paid a fortune for the opportunity to hunt down men like him in the perfect place: a deserted island. However, this is no ordinary island — it is home to Hydra the Beast. As the hunters track down their prey, the Hydra quickly turns hunter into hunted. With the island crumbling beneath him, Nolan finds himself in a race against time to stop the beast and get off the island alive.

KILLING ARIEL: MTI

There, bizarre and frightening things happen, and accidentally Rick kills Ariel. But she won’t stay dead. He soon realizes that she is the demon that first attacked him. He defends himself by killing her again… And again… But no matter how many times he kills her, she keeps coming back. When he finally escapes and returns home, he discovers that his life has disappeared into a nightmare of madness, lust, adultery, and cold-blooded murder.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD and Other Stories: Malaprop Productions.

16-year-old Christina Ricci plays the not-so-innocent LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD in an exciting and twisted take on the children’s story. Narrated by Quentin Crisp, the film is both provocative and eerie, combining childhood fiction with mature fantasy. Other stories included in the collection are Kaplan’s rare award-winning films LITTLE SUCK-A-THUMB and THE FROG KING.

TEX SAYS: This 12-minute short film from 1997 is a master study in transgressive storytelling. Check it out and the other set of skewed fairy tales that are included.

MURDER LOVES KILLERS TOO: Well Go USA

Big Stevie has a sexual problem. Murder is how he has sex. And Big Stevie knows that there is no better way for a repressed killer to blow off steam than killing a bunch of care-free free-spirited teens. After her friends are all chopped, carved and slashed, sweet young Aggie is left alone to face off against this unreasonable psycho. Now she s got a pervert on her hands. A big one. And Big Stevie s problem could become Aggie s problem real fast.

TEX SAYS: This one actually streets (according to Amazon) on the 19th! Check out a low-budget stalk and slash movie that really knows how to play with genre conventions.

THE PERFECT SLEEP: Magnolia

Set in a unique world of darkness and tragedy, a tortured man with no name returns to the city in which he swore he would never return, in order to save the woman he has always loved yet can never have.

PLATOON OF THE DEAD: Tempe

A Marine platoon is ambushed during a mission, leaving only three soldiers alive to fend off the growing army of the living dead. En route to their pickup point, they come across an abandoned house with three mysterious women hiding out inside. If they can make it through the night, they’re home free…or so they think, because someone is hiding a dark secret that may alter the course of this gore-drenched war…

STAGKNIGHT: Osiris

The ultimate stag night turns into the ultimate stag nightmare for a goofball group of lovable losers who plan a bachelor party getaway deep in the English woods – and get a bit more than they bargained for. Its babes, booze – and blood – as a medieval curse descends upon the hapless heroes. The fright-fest begins when the pitiful pals are greeted by a witch-like groundskeeper and her mute brother. The weekend warriors wander into the woods where they become dragged into a satanic ritual designed to raise the dark knight from his 1,500 year slumber.

TERROR AT BLOOD FART LAKE: SRS Cinema

When a group of college head off to their friend’s cabin for a little high octane sex weekend, they get more than they bargained for in the form of the evil scarecrow killer, jimmy van Brunt! Seems like nobody is safe at a spooky cabin in the woods these days. Experience characters that will make you want to howl with laughter and constipation! Witness deaths the likes of which you have TOTALLY seen before and better! One part Friday the 13th, One part Ernest goes to camp and 3 parts cream cheese, wonder aloud, Who will survive this terror at blood fart lake?

TEX SAYS: Chris Seaver and the crew at Low Budget Production do it again, with this…well…whatever it is. If you’ve seen the microbudget maverick’s last dozen or so flicks then I’m sure you know what you’re getting into here.
