By "literary influences in horror films" I am not referring to horror/Gothic works of literature that were specifically made into films or television-series episodes. What I am talking about are obvious nods to themes/motifs of classic/influential horror/Gothic literature.
1. Guillermo del Toro's CRIMSON PEAK: Obviously a lot of Gothic romance influence going on---I'd say, among others, a definite mixture of the Bronte sisters (WUTHERING HEIGHTS and JANE EYRE) and Poe ("The Fall of the House of Usher").
2. And this recent example (Jordan Peele's GET OUT): https://www.grandmasbigteeth.com/blank- ... es-GET-OUT
Some of us really do know how to read!
