‘Eden Lake’ Helmer Hooks Up with ‘The Woman in Black’
It was officially announced today (although we broke the news back in November) that Exclusive Media Group’s production arm Hammer Films has acquired the feature film rights to Susan Hill’s bestselling chiller The Woman in Black, which will be Hammer’s first 3D feature. The breaking news is that up-and-coming Brit helmer James Watkins (Eden Lake) is attached to direct the pic, which has been adapted for the screen by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, Stardust). The story revolves around a young lawyer who is ordered to travel to a remote village to take care of a deceased client’s papers. The young man glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black during his stay, leading to the uncovering of a tragic secret.

Furiosa will release in theaters on May 24, 2024. The film will tell the origin story of the character Charlize Theron made famous in Fury Road, also directed by George Miller.
“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by the Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”

“Whereas Fury Road essentially happened over three days and two nights, this happens over many years,” Miller had teased during a press conference last year.
Miller is co-writing and directing the movie for Warner Bros.
Back in 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road grossed nearly $400 million worldwide at the box office and won SIX Oscars, while also scoring rave reviews nearly across the entire board.
Last we heard, Miller also intends on making sequels centered on Tom Hardy‘s Mad Max.
