Quarantine is Underway in New ‘The Crazies’ Stills, Two Clips

Published

In addition to the two clips posted earlier this week, below you will find a batch of new stills from Overture Films’ The Crazies, their redo of George A. Romero’s classic pic that revolves around the inhabitants of a small Kansas town who are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. One of the images is pretty cool as it features a look at the government wearing their iconic quarantine outfits. Get infected on February 26.
Imagine living in a small town where everything is safe and happy…until suddenly it isn’t. Imagine your friends and neighbors going quickly and horrifically insane. In a terrifying tale of the “American Dream” gone horribly wrong, four friends find themselves trapped in their hometown in The Crazies, a reinvention of the George Romero classic directed by Breck Eisner from a screenplay by Ray Wright (Pulse, Case 39) and Scott Kosar (The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

David Dutten (Timothy Olyphant) is sheriff of Ogden Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun, ready to kill. Another man burns down his own house…after locking his wife and young son in a closet inside. Within days, the town has transformed into a sickening asylum; people who days ago lived quiet, unremarkable lives have now become depraved, blood-thirsty killers, hiding in the darkness with guns and knives. Sheriff Dutten tries to make sense of what’s happening as the horrific, nonsensical violence escalates. Something is infecting the citizens of Ogden Marsh…with insanity.

Now complete anarchy reigns as one by one the townsfolk succumb to an unknown toxin and turn sadistically violent. In an effort to keep the madness contained, the government uses deadly force to close off all access and won’t let anyone in or out – even those uninfected. The few still sane find themselves trapped: Sheriff Dutten; his pregnant wife, Judy (Radha Mitchell); Becca (Danielle Panabaker), an assistant at the medical center; and Russell (Joe Anderson), Dutten’s deputy and right-hand man. Forced to band together, an ordinary night becomes a horrifying struggle for survival as they do their best to get out of town alive.

Fear Street 1980s

Netflix’s Fear Street franchise launched back in Summer 2021 with three movies, the trilogy saga telling one complete story that spanned from 1666 all the way up to 1994.

Directed by Leigh Janiak, the three movies were Fear Street: 1994, Fear Street: 1978 and Fear Street: 1666, the first film taking a page out of the Scream playbook, the second paying tribute to the golden age of slasher cinema, and the final film turning the clock even further back. What’s next from the saga? The fourth film is titled Fear Street: Prom Queen.

Coming soon, Fear Street: Prom Queen is based on the same-titled book that R.L. Stine published in 1992, and it’s set to take the film franchise – yet again – into a brand new decade.

Fear Street: Prom Queen will be nestled between the events of Fear Street: 1994 and Fear Street: 1978, with the new movie confirmed this week to be set in the late 1980s!

In Fear Street: Prom Queen, “Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”

Matt Palmer (Calibre) is directing the franchise’s upcoming fourth installment.

The Prom Queen was book #15 in R.L. Stine’s teen franchise, originally published on March 1, 1992. If you’d like to read it before the movie comes out, you can always find copies on eBay.

No word yet on when the Netflix movie will be released. Stay tuned for updates.
