The Rock Will Teach the ‘Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide’
Talk about irony. My friend and I were literally just talking about how irrelevant Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become (noting his return to the WWE), and then today I have my statements thrown right back in my face.
Dwayne Johnson has become attached to star in Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide, a live action adventure film based on the comic book miniseries by John Paul Russ that was published by Zenescope Entertainment, says Deadline.
“The book series is a comprehensive guide to hunt monsters, the undead and unnatural beasts, and survive the confrontations.”
Johnson is in production on G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, playing the character Roadblock, and then follows with the Ric Roman Waugh-directed Snitch, playing a man who turns DEA informant to reduce his son’s prison sentence.

Another ‘Evil Dead’ Movie in the Works with Francis Galluppi Directing!
Just a couple months after we learned that Sébastien Vaniček (Infested, now streaming on Shudder) is directing the next installment in the Evil Dead film franchise, we’ve learned today that it’s not even the only new Evil Dead movie that’s currently in the works!
Deadline reports today that Ghost House Pictures has just hired Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) to write and direct yet another brand new Evil Dead movie!
Deadline adds, “The project is described only as an original story that Galluppi developed and brought to Raimi and team. No word on a plot or who all will be producing, as it’s early days here.”
“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence. He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut,” producer Sam Raimi told the website in an official statement.
Fede Alvarez directed his own take on Sam Raimi’s original classic back in 2013, which paved the way for Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise last year – 10 years after the remake came out.
The wait for the next one(s) won’t be nearly as long. Stay tuned for more.
