Shame they went straight to sequel a year later but with the weather editor, multiple paths and new ai director I guess they couldnt just put a expansion in.

I just hope it doesnt turn into another shooter and doesnt look the feel of l4d. I saw that damn chainsaw in it and people have been crying for one since the original came out, I just dont want to see valve including things just because people want them. When you make to many concessions the game usually ends up being boring and easy.

Im still interested in it but I just hope it will stay with what makes l4d good and not turn it into just a 4 man doom game or rehash everything.

Hopefully the sequel will contain more story elements. I want to know how it all began. I want to know WHY all these zombie fuckers are running at me from around every corner. Thats the major problem i had with the first one: absolutely no explanation whatsoever concerning what caused all the chaos. It was simply run and gun, and make it to the end. In my opinion, a highly overrated game.....and Valve sure put this sequel together pretty quick.

The point of the game isnt the story, its about trying to survive. You cant honestly think knowing every single little detail about why, what, who, where and when will make it better do you? It would make it worse in the regard it takes away all the mystery.

That was the charm night of the living dead series had, sure they said something about a space satelite maybe being a cause but no one ever really knew and that made it scarier or more interesting. Or like in jeepers creepers, the bad guy was really cool and interesting till you saw him minus clothes standing in full plain view with a light on him, it took away all the interest and mystery so you said "oh so its just a green demon looking guy, oh boy".

But if you play left 4 dead and want a story then your playing for the wrong reason. Sometimes the unknown makes things more interesting than the overly detailed known.

I am looking forward to it. Hopefully it turns into another Halo or Gears of war.

Oh saw this one today http://steamcommunity.com/groups/L4D2boycott

Steam community evidently isnt to happy about the sequel and I cant say I blame them as a l4d player myself.

In this interview they flat out said development started as soon as l4d was launched. http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1138 so all those lovely promises valve made were hollow.

The games achievements to this day are still broken for a vast majority of people.

Still alot of major exploits and bugs in the game.

And all the content promises they made all we got was survival which is basically just chunks is already exsisting levels cordoned off into sections.

But what ticks me off is a new video I saw today where they were saying how its easier now. They actually included incendinary rounds so you can light a tank on fire from wherever you want as long as your bullets hit it and showed the guy doing so then lighting a group of zombies on fire quite easily. Then you got 1 hit melee weapons and a larger emphasis on action and weapons.

Why?

Halo was a decent shooter for xbox at first but it was cliche, bland and boring where you played space marine #59,000,000,001 and every sequel got worse as they went, luckily I only got suckered into buying 2 brand new.

Gears of war 1 and 2 were just the very emobdiment of generich, boring, sterile big budget hollywood action. With a storyline thats been done a million times and everyone in the game is beefed up beyong human physicality. And as a real poke in the eye they are just so cool, macho, hip and badass that they walk around constantly frowning and are just so cool that they have 0 amount of emotion at all times and are not connectable. Besides after you fire from behind a wall as the game gently holds your hand the entire way once youve already done it other 300 times up till the thoughtless and limp ending.

Eww. Let's hope it never becomes that overrated. The last thing we want is for it to turn into that ADHD garbage.

The fact that they don't explain the story for you was done on purpose and it's one of my favorite elements of the game. I enjoy how you get tidbits of information about what happened within the levels themselves. Valve has said they did have an overall storyline in mind, but purposefully chose not to spoonfeed it to you. The mystery of it all is what adds to the suspense/horror. Plus it's fun to try to piece it together yourself using the hints left in the levels.

I wish they had dedicated more updates and what not to the original but I am still pumped for part 2. I am not worried at all that this game is going to suck or neglect what made the first one so great. Valve makes absolutely great games.
