Default 2009/2010 NBA Thread

I know the Finals are getting ready to start, but the draft will follow up soon after. There are many other NBA rumors swirling as well, so we can talk about that here instead of the Playoffs thread.

Sounds like Blake Griffin is a clear cut for the first overall pick. The Grizzlies are next and they will take Thabeet. Having Mike Conley and Rudy Gay, I see them passing on Ricky Rubio. Rubio then falls to the Thunder. Jordan Hill shouldn't be too far behind that group. Most like the 4th pick. Every thing after that, I don't know.

Being a Hornets fan, if they bring back Pargo, I'm hoping to see BJ Mullens fall to them at pick #21.

Other early rumors:

Ben Wallace May Retire

Carlos Boozer Going To Either Pistons Or Nets

Nothing too exciting, but it gives us something to talk about if the Finals don't interest you.

Latest rumor out of Phoenix: Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo for Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa, and the 14th overall pick. They did mention that Boston initiated the proposal, and that the Suns have not made a comment on it as of yet.

I can't imagine Boston really wants to give up Rajon Rondo at this point. the man averaged a near triple double in the playoffs! what more can he do? then you consider you get Amare back, who always has a fucking problem with something or other. and then you're left with Barbosa as your starting guard?

that just doesn't make a lick of sense. sure, Allen's getting older. but isn't he on his last year of his current deal?

I don't see much ground in that trade. a PG like Rondo is very hard to come by, and I don't see Boston's need when they have KG.

who knows, right? but if I were a GM, Rondo would be untouchable.

Well said, I don't see much validity to this. Forget about Boston making a major trade, I believe they are going to be absolutely nasty next year with Rajon playing with much more confidence, especially on the offensive end, and as the Boston stars age, Rondo will be able to pick up more of the slack. I already see Boston as winning a championship next year barring no major injury or whatever.

Ha, I just read that the Hornets are planning on trading their first round pick for money again.

You called it Mardigian.

Thoughts on Jonny Flynn and where he goes? Personally I think he could potentially be a stud and I'm hearing he goes to Pacers.

Ben Woodside is another guy I'm kinda tracking. He gave my Jayhawks a lot of trouble and his game is solid but I've heard he's struggling but his jumper has been top notch.

The Knicks got 8th overall I believe.
I personally think we need another Point Guard and a Center, and we must keep David Lee at all costs.

Any ideas? I don't know much on the whole college scene.

I wouldn't be surprised. if half the Celtics weren't injured, they would be in the finals again. if a team missing KG, and his backup, Powe, could take Orlando to 7 games, I can't imagine Orlando would have been able to withstand them at full strength.

then again, Orlando has been missing its allstar PG as well.

but under those conditions, I would rather enjoy seeing the Lakers get destroyed again. and no question, this team is going to be back next year. if they can pickup someone who can really contribute, it's going to be a great year for them.

yeah...the Hornets are terrible for this. they really run it like a business first, and worry about winning games second. although the pick isn't going to be great, at least pick someone up with it! you never know when you might grab a stud that can help the team.

after the first pick, there's no telling where anyone goes. especially as there's a lot of chatter of teams looking to move up and down in the draft. I expect a really exciting draft this year, with a couple big names being traded along with picks.

I know the Knicks were pretty high on Stephen Curry, which is like a small 2-guard that could potentially play the point. but who knows? they really do need a center. then again, in D'Antoni's system, that may not be the case. he used Amare at center for quite some time and those teams won 60+ games for a few years.

of course, David Lee is no Amare.

EDIT: the team I'm looking forward to seeing how they operate with personel and come back next season is undoubtably Chicago. after that amazing series with Boston, I can't wait to see if they come back hungry and really place themselves as a playoff contender. especially with all the talent they have, it wouldn't be hard for them to work a deal out to bring in another allstar player.

EDIT 2: just read on hoopshype.com that the Knicks are looking to move Lee in a sign and trade deal to cut costs. sorry my man.

I just read yesterday that they are now looking seriously into Hansbrough. Which I'd be almost fine if they trade the pick now.

When the David Lee rumors were going around last year, I was really hoping the Hornets could land him. Maybe they try to pull something off this year. I doubt it though.
