![]() Written and Directed by Richard Kelly Based on the short story "Button, Button" by Richard Matheson ![]() Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity. The short story was first published in the 1970 June issue of Playboy, and has since been republished in a collection of Matheson's work. It was adapted into an episode of The Twilight Zone, which Matheson strongly disapproved of, using his pseudonym Logan Swanson for the teleplay. Current Release Date: October 30, 2009 Last edited by Alkaline; 07-17-2009 at 02:00 PM.. |

You just described most of the '80s horror that (since you're posting here) I'm sure you love, so honestly...pull your head out of your ass.

Being a fan of so many of the elements involved with the film such as Richard Kelly's work (Loved Darko & Southland Tales was a fun whack out mess), Arcade Fire's music (will be the first time Win Butler/Owen Pallet/Régine Chassagne have scored a feature length film), and Frank Langella playing the role of the "Villain"(Come on, the man IS Skeletor for god sake) So I can't help but be excited. And No, Cameron Diaz is not my favorite actress either, but that doesn't mean she can't pull off a decent performance in this film.

Looked and looked, no threads. Anyways, this is the new film from Donnie Darko director, Richard Kelly. I guess this will be the discussion thread, but I really just wanted to ask about this:
Now the Trailer: A little too close to be a coincidence. I've read the film is based off of some 1970's book, and perhaps the short is too. I'm just curious if these are related in any way, like Kelly and Co. bought the rights to this, or something. They just seem way too similar, for them not to be related in some way, or there might be some lawsuits coming. Any info? Discuss away......
